     Description

Mariposa Mexico which means “Mexican Butterfly” is a perfect name for
this lovely colonial townhouse located very near the Jardin Park and
La Parroquia which is a 300 yr. old cathedral. The house is in the
very center of San Miguel, just a 5 minurte walk from all the shops
and restaurants.
Mariposa Mexico is located at Callejon Bianco 12, considered on of the
loveliest street addresses in central San Miguel. At the entrance
there is a carved antique door to greet you. This seductively hides a
leafy green arbor behind with lighted nitches and overhead lanterns.
Typical of the okra to pastel colors seen on San Miguel buildings.
Mariposa Mexico has a lovely Colonial pink color
The very private sunny front courtyard is quite dramatic when 1st seen
with its three story bell tower and large central fountain.
There are 2 bedrooms off this first floor courtyard. Both are
professionally decorated in beige tones with period antiques and
lovely Spanish accessories. Heated floors and overhead fans insure
comfort at all times during the year. The master suite has a white
four poster wonderfully comfy canopy bed and large bathtub and shower.
There are 3 story light well’s above the fireplace, in this room, that
give a magical light throughout the day.
The guest room suite has two four poster single beds, also divinely
comfortable. There is a “bohemian flare” to this second beautifully
decorated bedroom. It has fun Mexican accessories and lovely period
antique appointments as well.
The second floor living room/kitchen is all open space with dramtic
“boveda” ceilings, large fireplace, brick floors and area rugs. An “L”
shaped sectional provides for comfortable television viewing. T.V.,
stereo, fax vonage phone and internet connection are all located
behind antique wood doors in the bookshelf. At night there are spots
in the nitchs that set off an array of fascinating santos that are so
much a part of the San Miguel culture.
The kitchen itself has a Mexican stove, oversized refrigerator,
microwave and oven with a cozy bar for enjoying evening happy hour.
The roof top level is breathtakingly beautiful with a 360 degree view
of all San Miguel and the Parroquia. A delightful greenhouse provides
a candlelit room for the roof top open air dining table that seats 10.
There are heated floors and fireplaces that allow for comfortable open
air dining even on cooler evenings.
A Jacuzzi or “spool” over looks the incredible view from “a top” and
is a perfect place for sunning or a frosted margarita!

     Attractions

Life in San miguel is rich in local traditions. It is colorful in its
local charm, fascinating in its mix of old and new and fun its bounty
of things to do. It mixes the best aspects of small town life with
cosmopolitan pleasures of a big city. San Miguel has grown in stature
as a writer and artist colony. This progress dates back to the 1930's
when the first art school was founded. There are literary readings,
art shows, and annual chamber music and jazz festivals. For example,
in August there is the world-class festival of chamber music, as well
as the International Jazz festival which takes place the last week in
November.

     Home Exchange

We are looking to do a home exchange for any one of our homes, although
our home in Paris is booked most of the year. Ideally, we are looking to
stay a minimum of 2 weeks, and a maximum of a month, to a month and a
half. The areas that appeal to us the most are warm, and sunny, with
local places that provide quality fun. The cities we are interested in
are Montecito, Santa Barbara, The Keys, and W. Palm Beach, Florida,
Kauai, Hawaii, and a home on or near the beach in La Jolla, or Olde Del
Mar, San Diego.
We would prefer a home on or near the beach, and are not interested in
an apartment.
