Sierra Outdoor Extravaganza!
The mountains above Bass Lake offer a National Park, skiing, and
special treasures: golf, hiking, fishing, mountain biking, four-
wheeling and unique Sierra history.

Yosemite National Park
This world-class National Park cannot be missed, a 60 minute drive
north on Hwy 41. Yosemite is a shrine to the strength of granite,
power of glaciers, the persistence of life, and the tranquility of
the High Sierra. Bring a picnic for lunch, a raft for the Merced,
boots for hiking or your skis. Few outdoor visits can compare to
Yosemite.

Golf Courses
Three courses await you and your party: Ahwahnee (18-holes), River
Creek (9), and Wawona (9).

Winter Fun
Badger Pass offers snowboarding, downhill and cross country skiing,
even tubing (60 minute drive). Also, sliding and ice-skating are
available at Tenaya Lodge, 20 minutes away.

Hiking
Several classic trails surround the cabin. Willow Creek Trail (2
mi.): Enjoy this backwoods trail through pines and oaks from the
head of Crane Valley Rd., simply at the top of the road above the
cabin. Willow Creek Trail to Angel Falls. (1 - 4 mi.) See multiple
cascades flowing into deep rock pools. Starts from lake shore or
from Rd. 274 bridge. Keep going a mile to reach the more remote
Devil’s Slide. The Way of the Mono Trail (.5 mile walking trail)
features marvelous views of Bass Lake, portrayals of daily life for
the Mono Indians, and granite grinding holes. Goat Mountain Trail (1-
8 mi) rises out of the Forks Campground 4 miles to a fire lookout
tower at the summit. Majestic views lie across into the Sierra
Nevadas or down upon Bass Lake. Lewis Creek Trail (1-4 mi) follows
the woodsy creek from the trailhead marked on Hwy 41 (a few miles
above Oakhurst). Enjoy the shady waterfall halfway in.

Fishing
Fishing is a major pastime at Bass Lake, and a great place to teach
kids the craft. Rent boats or cast from docks and shore. Bait and
tackle is available at Pines Market, The Forks, and Miller’s
Landing. Mountain fishermen head up Beashore Rd. or the Sierra
Scenic Byway for streams and lakes. You can learn the secrets from
Southern Yosemite Mountain Guides ... or find try to find it all on
your own terms.

Mountain biking + Four-wheeling
Multiple roads give you access to thrilling terrain. Hwy 41 to
Yosemite, Beashore Rd above the Pines Marina, the Central Camp Rd.,
and the Sierra Scenic Byway are the starting points for granite
domes, flowery meadows, waterfalls, single tracks, peaks, and lakes.

History in the Sierra
The Sugar Pine Railroad is a ride into history on a 4-mile railroad
excursion at Yosemite's south gate on Hwy 41 on the same powerful
locomotives that hauled massive logs through the southern Sierras.

Mariposa offers two historic landmarks, antiques, and restaurants
set in a Gold Rush town layout. Begin this scenic 50 min drive out
of Oakhurst on Hwy 49 North.
