- this is Casa Arienti, our beautiful 2-room apartment with a special
taste added to it.

Thoroughly renovated in March, furnished and decorated with works
by some of the most worldwide-renowned 1900’s architects and designers
- Luigi Caccia Dominioni’s 1963 enameled iron beds and table lamp,
Marco Zanuso’s wardrobes, Dino Gavina’s table and chairs, Giulio
Manzoni’s sofabed, Marcel Breuer’s and Robert Mallet-Stevens chairs -
together with some 1700’s and 1800’s antiques, tapestries,
contemporary paintings and original Faience pieces, Casa Arienti can
comfortably accommodate up to 4 guests in a very cozy bedroom (two
single beds that can be put together to make a double + 1 single), a
sitting/dining room (1 double sofa bed or 2 singles), a kitchen, a
bathroom, a small hallway and a very nice covered terrace, the perfect
spot for an alfresco dinner, a breakfast or a cocktail. Beds are 2 x
0.90 mts. with high-quality frames, mattresses and linen. All windows
and the terrace overlook a quiet, small private garden, the perfect
touch of green in the midst of the typical red brick landscape of
Bologna, a Medieval and still visible alley bordering. Peace and quiet
are 100% granted.

TESTIMONIALS ==

"Appartement très bien situé pour un séjour à Bologne, très agréable,
un accueil sympathique et efficace en début de séjour. A conseiller."
(Pierre B., France)

"My husband and I spent two fabulous weeks in Bologna in May, and Casa
Arienti exceeded our expectations in terms of location, comfort and
ambience. After a morning of sightseeing, we loved coming home for
lunch on our balcony overlooking the two gardens below--one with pink
roses and the other with yellow roses. If we felt like staying in for
dinner, we could get a take-away pizza and salad from Elena a few
doors down the street or from O Solo Mio around the corner on
Castiglione. We usually chose, though, to try one or another of the
many outstanding trattorias within a 5 or 10 minute walk from the
apartment, ending up all too often at La Sorbetteria Castiglione for a
gelato or sorbet for dessert. We loved Bologna's new history museum on
Castiglione, the weekend festas in Giardini Margherita, the porticos
and churches, the Welcome Bologna tourist information centre in Piazza
Maggiore and its daily walking tour of the historic centre, the San
Luca Express to visit the Sanctuary of San Luca, etc. etc. We also
took advantage of the excellent train connections for day trips to
Ferrara (loved the castle) and to Ravenna for the mosaics. On our next
visit, we could do day trips to Modena, Parma and Florence perhaps.
I'm already looking forward to returning to Bologna and Casa Arienti.
Grazie mille." (Mary W., Canada)

"My wife and I enjoyed very much staying in the apartment for 4 days.
It is quite spacious and comfortable. We ate 2 dinners in and were
pleased with the kitchen facilities. And access to both a washer and
dryer is indeed a plus. The location is about a 10 - 15 minute walk
from the center of Bologna. There is a fantastic gelateria just around
the corner. And it is just a 3 minute walk to the bus stop on the
circular road surrounding the old part of the city, from where one can
catch a bus in either direction (#32 or #33) that goes to the train
station in about 15 minutes. The only reason I did not give a 5 star
rating is that the furnishings are utilitarian rather than luxurious.
But for the price it was very good value, and we would not hesitate to
recommend it to other couples (I personally think it would be a bit
tight to have more than 2 people)" (Jay D., USA)

"appartement très bien situé pour un séjour à Bologne, très agréable,
un accueil sympathique et efficace en début de séjour. A conseiller."
(Pierre B., France)

"One could say that casa Arienti is an ideal holiday home. Certainly
the location is optimal, as it is close enough to the busy center
where "it is at" but far enough to be quiet, and a "normal"
neighborhood. The apartment goes out the back of the building, so you
don't even hear the street, and the little balcony looking over old
trees and vines is quite romantic. We are a couple in our mid-fifties
and enjoyed beeing able to relax. The many times mentioned ice cream
place really IS worth two daily visits! The apartment itself is well
equipped, and, most important for physically exhausted tourists (all
that walking!), the beds are comfortable and good for the back. The
whole place is comfortable and tastefully decorated. Careful though
about the neighbour underneath: As you can guess from a note he left
at the front door for the whole house community, he seems to feel his
peace and quiet constantly threatened, and he actually rang our
doorbell at 11:30 pm to reprimand us for being audible - all we really
had done was still being up. We solved the problem by putting a rug
under the dining chairs so he wouldn't hear them move ..." (Angela L.,
Spain)

"I have been to Casa Arienti several times by now and it is always a
pleasure to stay there. Both organisation and the hearty Welcome are
to be recommended. The apartment is pure luxury for one person and can
be used by several more. Even if it rains it is nice staying there ...
sitting on the balcony etc. Quite a number of nice shops and
restaurants are easily to reach - and for a late snack I recommend
PIZZA DA ASPORTO in Via Arienti 7." (Michael S., Germany)

"The apartment was great, clean, roomy, quiet, comfortable, everything
you would need. We were able to walk into the centre of the city in
ten to fifteen minutes. Also, there were shops and cafes within a two
minute walk. We would definitely recommend staying here and wouldn''t
hesitate to stay again should we visit Bologna. Loved it." (Sylvia W.,
Australia)

"My friend and I greatly enjoyed our four nights in Casa Arienta. It
was comfortable, spacious and well equipped. The location was
excellent; it was quiet but also close to food stores, restaurants and
a couple of interesting clothes shops. It was just 10=15 mins walk
from Piazza Maggiore. The owners were very good to do business with. I
would certainly go there again." (Mary G., Ireland)

"We stayed here for slightly over one week. This one bedroom apt is
well laid out, with all the conveniences (including dishwasher and
laundry) of home. The location is perfect. - very convenient walking
distance to everywhere in Bologna. We thoroughly enjoyed it, and
bologna is simply wonderful" (Sharon R., USA)

"My husband and I enjoyed a relaxing month in Italy (July) with
Casa Arienti as our home base. The location of this apartment is
superb. It has a pizzeria, gelateria, grocery, a couple of cafes, and
a gourmet foods shop within a block. Its an easy walk to Piazza
Maggiore, a large grocery, bus stop, just about anything else you
might like to see in Bologna. We were grateful for the air
conditioning in the height of summer and enjoyed the balcony on a near
daily basis (the location and these two upgrades plus the washer/dryer
were worth the extra expense of this apartment). While the kitchen was
small for us given our length of stay, we made it work, and it would
be no problem for a shorter time. Ms. Lucia was extremely helpful and
responsive to our needs throughout the month. My husband and I are
both teacher/writers, so we did a lot of work at home and in coffee
shops while we were there and made use of Casa Arienti's WiFi. The
neighbors were friendly and we had no issues with noise whatsoever
except for the one time that the neighbors below asked us to please be
careful about moving furniture after 11 (this was necessary because of
the two twin beds pushed together to make one large bed. We were very
conscious of readjusting the drifting beds after that!) We would
highly recommend this spot for your stay in Bologna -- as other
reviews have mentioned, it is exactly as it is represented." (Megan
S., USA)

"My husband and I stayed at Casa Arienti for a week in May. We
chose it for the balcony over the garden and really liked sitting out
with coffee or wine, overlooking the garden and trees below. The
apartment is well equipped and furnished, and we appreciated the
artwork. The neighborhood is very quiet, but there are many shops
nearby, and it's an easy walk to the center. The busses are easy to
use once you get a bus map and learn where to buy tickets. While in
Bologna we really enjoyed taking cooking classes, learning to make
pasta, and taking a tour to see the making of cheese, prosciutto and
balsamic vinegar. Best restaurant dinner we had there was at Le Mura,
a fish restaurant not far from the apartment. The cippuddata di pesca
castagna was outstanding!" (Pat P., USA)

"This very clean and spacious apartment was exactly what we hoped it
would be. The building was quiet and the apartment comfortable. When
we travel, we like to be out and about all day then come back and
prepare a simple evening meal at home. The apartment kitchen was well
beyond adequate for our needs. There is a wonderful, large street
market just a few blocks away, so we could experiment with many of the
terrific fresh foods Italians are so lucky to have. We have stayed in
quite a few rentals and every so often we find a gem
like this place." (George & Susan G., USA)

"We had a wonderful stay in this spacious, clean and excellently
located apartment. It was great living like a true Bolognese!" (Sue M,
NJ, USA)

"L'appartamento è piu' bello ancora che nelle foto. Curato nei
dettagli, elegante, contesto signorile e centralissimo. Il parcheggio
pubblico è a non più di tre minuti. Vivamente consigliato." [Giuliana
G., Italy]

"Having rented other guest apartments in France (Paris) and Italy
(Rome) I can say that Casa Arienti is a find. My stay lasted 12 days.
The owner is courteous and professional. The decor of the apartment is
simple and tasteful, with high ceilings, new hardwood floors and large
windows. The kitchen is narrow but functional and modern. The
living-dining area is spacious, with a glass door giving onto a small
balcony where two people can share an aperitivo or a meal at a
cafe-style table. This balcony overlooks a private garden and patio
(one hears the chatter of the neighbours, sometimes their t.v. or
music) and there are views of nearby buildings (both old and modern).
The bathroom has a small shower stall, a bidet, and a large sink. The
bedroom is big, with lots of cupboard/dresser space and tall,
shuttered French doors on two sides. The building itself is well-kept,
with decent laundry facilities available in the basement. Via Arienti
is a quiet residential street within the city walls, and away from the
hubub of the student/business/tourist sections of Bologna. Cafes and
shops (for fresh produce, wine, oil, cheese, bread, prosciutto,
gelato...) are nearby. It takes 5 minutes to walk to a large and
lovely park, 15 minutes to walk to the Museo Morandi, 25 minutes to
walk to the train station. If I were to return to Bologna, I would
definitely stay here again. [Jack V., Canada]"

"The apartment is nice, and photographs correspond to reality. The
owner was very helpful and everything was so as we agreed.
Accommodation is in the center, but in a quiet area. I recommend this
accomodation!" [Jana B., Czeck Republic]

"Appartamento molto carino in una posizione davvero invidiabile nel
centro di Bologna. Tranquillo perchè affaccia, con un grazioso
terrazzino, su un cortile interno. Ben arredato, letti comodi e con
biancheria nuova. Ideale anche per soggiorni di lavoro." (Claudia F.,
Italy)

"The apartment was very comfortable, clean and quiet. The balcony
lovely for a relaxing meal, drink or just a quiet read. The location
is excellent with shops and buses very close by and within walking
distance of most of the sites. The owner and Lucia (the lady who met
us on arrival) could not have been more helpful, especially when we
locked ourselves out of the flat! Grazie mille e arrivederci!" (Lesley
L., UK)

"Tout était impeccable. A remarquer tout particulièrement le calme en
centre ville." [Albrecht G., Belgium]

"My husband and I stayed at Casa Arienti for 2 weeks in May and really
enjoyed the apartment and the city of Bologna. The apartment is
attractive, very spacious and well equipped. We especially enjoyed the
little balcony, where we usually had our breakfasts and suppers. On a
side street not far from the apartment are a number of specialty food
shops with wonderful selections of fresh produce, fish, cheeses, fresh
and dried pastas, etc. Bologna is ideally situated to explore the
Emilia Romagna region by train. (The train station is about a 30
minute walk from the apartment). We easily made day trips to Modena,
Parma, Ferrara, Ravenna, Faenza, Brisighella and, as well as longer
forays to Venice, Padova and Vicenza. We would certainly stay at this
apartment again and recommend it to anyone considering a visit to
Bologna." (Herta, Winnipeg, Canada)

"My husband and I and our 15 year-old daughter stayed here for a week
in March, and were quite comfortable. I agree with the other favorable
comments, and would add that the flat is better looking than photos
show it. They also have most domestic details right: a boon even if
you are out and about most of the time. The bedding is of good
quality, there is ample closet space, and more than enough dishes,
etc. Plus, there are excellent osterias and ristorantes in easy
walking distance. And a great gelateria." (Ilene, USA)

"We spent 5 nights in May in lovely, spacious, Casa Arienti. It is
very comfortable, immaculate and quiet. Well located, it is only a 15
minute walk to Piazza Maggiore, the wonderful market, museums, etc.
Grocery stores, buses and other services are very close. Also, there
is a lot of information on the area in the apartment. Good restaurants
are nearby, especially "I Poeti" for a delicious meal in a historic
venue, as well as "Sorbetteria Castiglione" for great gelato. Lucia
was very helpful with sightseeing and restaurant recommendations. We
had a family emergency during our stay and Lucia was kind enough to
come to the apt. to notify us after she received a phone call from our
family in the US. This was our first visit to Bologna and we enjoyed
the city very much-especially being away from the tourists! If we
return to Bologna, we will definitely stay at Casa Arienti again. " (R
& B, Laguna Beach, CA, USA)

"This is a very cosy apartment and very welcoming. The communication
with the owner was perfect! The location is in the city center and you
can reach many destinations by train from Bologna. Bologna itself has
a lot to offer, when you look twice! So many thanks and we certainly
recommand the apartment!" (Roger & René, Belgium)

"We spent 8 nights at Casa Arienti in October. The apartment is
in a great location to explore the city. The train station is a little
far but walkable. Bus and taxi stop right around the corner. Excellent
take out pizza a couple doors down. Great wine, cheese and homemade
pasta shop called La Bottega at Via Castiglione 62/2 right around the
corner. Excellent butcher shop right beside it. The
apartment itself is wonderful. It would be very comfortable in the
summer and/or the winter. Lucia met us at the apartment and she was
happy to answer all our questions including travel and train
schedules. The kitchen is well stocked with cooking utensils. We
didn't think we would cook while we were there but we did and those
were some of our more enjoyable evenings. The veranda is a great
place to have a glass of vino or coffee. Vittorio was excellent at
keeping up informed about our visit. He was even so kind to book a
taxi for us to head back to the airport. The only issue we had was the
young lady who lives above the apartment must work at night and we
would hear her come in around 2am. It wasn't too loud and if you had a
simple oscillating fan for white noise you wouldn't even hear it. I
would definitely stay here again. Another plus is the washer and dryer
in the basement. That makes traveling lighter much
easier. Thank you Vittorio and Lucia for a wonderful stay and your
display of kindness." (Lisa P., Austin, TX, USA)

"This is one of the nicest rentals in Bologna that I have encountered.
The photographs and description are completely accurate (unlike some
other rentals) so you know exactly what you are getting before you
arrive. The neighborhood is very nice, typical bolognese neighborhood,
not too touristy but yet close to everything. The local shops are very
nice and offer all the essentials within a short distance. Not only
that, one of Bologna's most famous gelato shops is only a block away.
The neighbors are friendly also. Sgr Vittorio and Sgra Lucia were very
helpful and attentive. I'd highly recommend this rentals for the
service, amenities and the location, perfect all around" (Michael C.,
San Diego, CA, USA)

"Casa Arienti est un très bon logement pour séjourner à Bologne.
L'appartement est très coquet et très bien situé, proche du centre ,
dans un quartier animé mais calme proche d'une bonne petite pizzeria
et d'un excellent glacier. L'accueil est très bien et de nombreux
guides et revues sont mises à la disposition des locataires ce qui
permet de bien visiter la très jolie ville de Bologne. A recommander
particulièrement le musée et la casa Morandi, cela vaut vraiment la
visite." (Michel D., Belgium)

"Due to the snow we arrived an hour late and Lucia kindly waited for
us. The apartment is exactly as described and very stylishly
furnished. We found everything clean and tidy. The location is very
good with nearby shops, restaurants and local buses. There was deep
snow when we arrived but the apartment was lovely and warm throughout
our stay." (Susan L., UK)

"A nice apartment with a peaceful neighbourhod. Only small minus is a
difficulties to find a car parking near the house." (Jarmo L., Finland)

"My wife and I stayed four nights at Casa Arienti and found it an
excellent "base" for exploring Bologna. Upon arrival, Lucia was
extremely helpful, explaining everything and even accompanying us to
the Hertz Auto Rental office located near the train station so that we
could drop off our car (you don't want to have a car in Bologna).
Casa Arienti is located in an interesting old neighborhood with lots
of charm and the best gelateria in Bologna is close by. We walked all
over the city from our apartment at Casa Arienti and found that it
took us ten minutes or so to get "downtown". We like to walk, because
we get to see so much more than when we drive - it is a great
location. The apartment itself is just as you see it in the
photographs - comfortable and quiet. The wi-fi is GREAT! We
enthusiastically recommend you stay at Casa Arienti if your travels
take you to Bologna." (William R., USA)

"Casa Arienti was a welcome refuge. The apartment was all that is
written and more, it was large, comfortable, and quiet. All of Bologna
is within reach by foot or public transportation. The neighborhood is
vibrant and thriving and offers many diverse amenities." (Josephine
K., USA)

"I found this apartment in Bologna to be the perfect home base while
staying in Bologna for nearly 3 weeks. It became the perfect getaway
from the crowds and noise of the same city center. The apartment was
just as pictured, but better! It was spacious, comfortable and for the
most part, very quiet, blissfully quiet and relaxing. The kitchen was
well-equipped, and there were small plastic containers to use for
carrying cheese, snacks, etc. Please note there is not a lift, and
there are some steep stairs to the first level I found that
correspondence with the owner to be timely and helpful in the
reservation process. Lucia met me as planned at the apartment to get
me 'oriented' to the apartment, trash disposal, getting around
Bologna, etc. As others have noted, there were maps, bus schedules,
guide books to use. Very helpful. It was set up with Wi-Fi, but I do
not own a laptop or phone with internet capabilities. For those in a
similar situation, I was able to get a list of Internet Points in
Bologna from the Tourist Information office off the Piazza Maggiore.
The easiest, cleanest and best run Internet point was Itehad Good Luck
snc, located on Via Alfred Testoni 8, just off via Ugo Bassi. From the
apartment, take the #30 bus from the XII Giuno bus stop, get off at
the Piazza Malpighi stop, walk straight ahead to via Ugo Bassi and go
right, and it is the first street on the right. Also, the #30 is the
bus to take to the train station, taking about 20 minutes. For the
best gelato, go to la Sorbetteria on via Castiglione (left out the
door of the apartment, left on via Castiglione, on the right about a
block down). Nearly next door is a great trattoria, O Sole Mio. Taking
a right on via Castiglione, there is a great rosticerria to get roast
chicken and take out, and a small market to pick up basic supplies
when you have just arrived. All in all, this was a great apartment and
experience. I am a single female traveling alone on this trip, and
felt very safe in this apartment and neighborhood. Do not hesitate to
rent this apartment." (Susan S., USA)

"We spent a relaxed week in this lovely apartment in Bologna. It was a
short cab ride from the airport (17 euros approx) and only a 10-15 min
stroll from the city centre. The area is safe and quiet and the
apartment was clean, cool and airy. The kitchen is fully equipped if
you want to do a little cooking and we loved the little balcony and
the proximity (5 mins) to the Giardini Margherita. The place was
perfect as a base in Bologna, as well as for day trips to places like
Florence, Venice and Lucca. Communication with the (helpful and
friendly) owner was problem-free. Highly recommended." (Kate P., UK)

"My wife and I stayed here for a week in early May. The apartment was
beautiful, tasteful, functional. Love the little porch and sounds of
the neighbors. We found a few different cafes to sit outside nearby
and have our negroni. La Botega is right there and I strongly
recommend going there. The owner(s) are beautiful and they have food
to match. Also enjoyed the bohemian Mike & Miks... and several
neighborhood restaurants on the off roads. Oh, and the mother's day
vendors in the park were over the top - così bella! In short, we loved
the neighborhood. Its an easy city bus ride (1.2 euro) from the train
station (the red bus). I hope we can come back to Italy. If we do,
it'll be bologna. And if its bologna and we can have this very same
apartment, I will have returned to heaven." (Joseph P., NY, USA)

"This spacious, nicely furnished apartment is well located in walking
distance of all the main attractions of Bologna, including many
excellent restaurants and shops. It's an unusual plus to have both a
washer and a dryer." (Stephen U., USA)

"We had a wonderful week in this apartment. It is very comfortable,
quiet and spacious. Great local shops (particularly the gelato bar
around the corner-try the caramelised fig as it is delicious) and only
10 minutes walk to the main square. Excellent food and wine but you
need to book ahead to ensure that you get a table at the more popular
restaurants. We visited Modena and Ferrara and also went to a soccer
game while we there. All in all a great vacation." (Ann P., Australia)

"We really loved this location in the historic district. Quiet,
charming and more spacious than we expected. Great wi-fi, comfortable
bedding, all the kitchen conveniences, and close to taxi stand and bus
lines, not to mention easy walk to everything else. Would definitely
stay there again! Just note: You do have stairs to walk up one floor."
(Ellen C., USA)
