The petite maison is a 19th Century, two-storey cottage built in
stone. For many years its attractive appearance was hidden beneath
a faded yellow mortar rendering. It has been renovated and has a
new electrical system, the roof has been renewed and insulation
installed. It is cool in the summer and warm in the winter months.
On the ground floor the cottage has a open-plan kitchen off the
spacious living room. The large shower room has a WC and a
washbasin unit. Upstairs there is a large double-bedded room, and a
twin-bedded gallery room, each with storage for clothes and
personal effects. Extra visitors have use of the convertible sofa.

There is central heating throughout the cottage. Towels, bed linen
and tea towels are provided, and gas, electricity and water are
included in the price. Please bring your own towels for outdoor

If more than four people use the petite maison we charge a
supplement of £20 per week, per person. During peak periods
bookings will run from Saturday to Saturday.

The cottage has been priced for use by up to four persons. There is
room in the principle bedroom for a cot, and a baby using it will be
not be counted in the number of guests, but please bring your own
cot-sheets and bedding. We can also provide a high-chair but you
need to bring baby’s beaker, potty, etc.

Upstairs there is a large double-bedded room, and a twin-bedded
gallery room, each with storage for clothes and personal effects.
Extra visitors have use of the convertible sofa.

The owner’s property is set in one hectare of land, which is
available to you. The petite maison has its own street entrance and
courtyard. There is plenty of off-road car parking.
We ask you for a deposit of £100 for each week together with your
booking form, and the remaining sum one month before your holiday.
In addition we require a returnable breakage/damage deposit of £100
with your final payment.
In the event that you have to cancel, you will receive a full
refund, less £50 administration charge, providing that we can re-
book the petite maison at the normal brochure price.
The petite maison has a separate laundry room with washing-machine
and, iron. There is a courtyard with table and chairs and a
barbecue. A hairdryer and a radio/cassette/CD player are provided.

It is a 15-minute stroll to the centre of the village where there
are two bakers, two hairdressers, a general food store, butcher,
chemist, post office, three cafés, tobacconist, a dentist, and

stay with us, and if you have any particular requirements please let
us know, and we will research them before you arrive



Fontaines has about 2050 inhabitants, and is made up of seven
hamlets. It boasts five lavoirs (wash-houses), and calls itself a
village of stone and water.

La Ferté is the ideal place for a relaxing half-day. This is a man-
made lake with a sandy beach, pedalos, shady wood, picnic tables,
and café. Close by is the site of the first monastery founded by
St. Etienne, with guided tours in English

Chagny is in the opposite direction to Chalon, along the Route des
Grande Vins. It is a centre for boating on the canal that links the
Rivers Saône and Loire. There is a swimming pool, many restaurants
and a Sunday morning market.

Dijon is described in the Lonely Planet guide as one of France’s
most appealing provincial cities, with medieval and Renaissance
buildings, it is only 60 minutes drive away.

Chalon sur Saône is about 8 miles away and is a major town. It has
theatres, cinemas, restaurants and cafés, museums, parks, swimming
pool, sports and other recreational facilities, together with an
excellent shopping area. Parking is always readily available.

Other activities close by or within an hour’s car ride are
ballooning, petanque, karting, fishing, and golf. Chalon has an
Olympic size swimming pool, along with two other pools on the same
site. There are also zoos and amusement parks to visit.
The train from the station at Fontaines will take you to Chalon sur
Saône, Chagny, Dijon and Macon.



High season £335 per week; mid-season £280 per week; low season £240 per week.
