     Attractions

BEAR VALLEY MOUNTAIN RESORT - Alpine skiing and snowboarding.
New speed lift means more runs and more fun!

LAKE ALPINE - Gorgeous clear mountain lake surrounded by tree-
studded hills and blue skies. Kayak rental ($25) allows you to hop
onto rocky outcrops for a picnic or fishing. A bike trail goes
around the lake and down to Bear Valley Village. In the winter, Hwy
4 is closed each year at Lake Alpine due to the amount of snow, so
you have a winter wonderland with uncrowded sledding, snowmobiling,
snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing.

BIG TREES STATE PARK - walk through majestic Giant Sequoias. Hiking
trails meander through the South Grove, which is especially displays
brilliant colors in the fall.

STANISLAUS NATIONAL PARK, LAKE TAHOE, and YOSEMITE - Nestled
inside the Stanislaus National Park, and sandwiched between Tahoe
National Forest and Yosemite National Forest, the cabin offers miles
of hiking and biking; horseback riding; and rock climbing. There
are hundreds of lakes, rivers, and reservoirs for white-water
rafting; kayaking; fishing; water-skiing; and swimming.

GOLD-MINING TOWNS - Step into History and relish American
Heritage in towns like Murphys, Columbia, Angels Camp, and
Sonora. Pan for gold, ride in a horse-drawn carriage, learn
candle-making and candy-making, go grape-stomping, and attend an
old-fashioned county fair. This is where Mark Twain wrote his
first published work.

EXPLORE CAVES AND CAVERNS (Moaning, California, Mercer) - rappell
into a cavern and experience pitch darkness

Wine-Tasting - Murphys is dubbed the "Next Carmel" because of its
many award-winning wineries and quaint downtown. Browse the
shops and enjoy one of the great restaurants. There are places
for family feasts and places for candlelight rendevous. The town
of Arnold boasts its own award-winning micro-brewery. Championship
Golf Courses designed by Robert Trent Jr.are found in these towns.
