     Attractions

Fontet - This Sleepy attractive village set beside the Canal is worth
exploring, from its open bell tower church to its tiny museum (Musee
des allumettes) dedicated to match stick models. For the family why
not visit the local mariner (Base de loisirs Halte nautique) where
children can safely swim in the lake or play on the man made beach
(life guard in attendance). There is a beach bar for light
refreshments and ice creams. In the village you will find a
Boulangerie and a very good restaurant (Les Fontines) both within a
short stroll from Lordons. There are many horse riding stables close
by who cater for all levels. There are numerous walks along the Canal
du Midi/The Canal Lateral which runs through the village stretching
from the Mediterranean Sea to Bordeaux, the Canal being the back drop
for Rick Stein’s French Odyssey. Across the valley, is the ancient
river port town of La Reole.

La Reole - A medieval fortress town (Approx 5 minutes drive)
La Reole boasts a wealth of medieval architecture along a well-
signposted walk through its narrow, hilly streets. A lively colourful
Saturday market takes place on the esplanade des Quais along the
Garonne that provides good locally grown fresh produce. La Reole is
on the pilgrims Route to St. Jacques de Compostella.

Duras - well liked by the British (Approx 20 minute drive)
The picturesque town comes alive in the summer with weekend events
such as wine festivals, antique fairs and night markets.

Saint Emilion - Beautiful Historic Village (Approx 50 minutes drive)
This truly beautiful village is set into a hillside on the north side
of the river Dordogne. The twelfth century town consists of old stone
houses with shuttered windows and cobbled streets.

Bordeaux - Cosmopolitan city of great history (Approx 60 minute drive)
An elegant City rich in history and culture. Stunning architecture, a
range of boutiques, cafes and restaurants to suit most tastes and all
pockets.
