Costa Rica uniquely offers the richness and remoteness of nature with
access to modern convienences. Within a short walk of this condo, you
can enjoy the white sand beaches of Flamingo Beach or the beach along
Potrero Bay. Here you will find relaxation, but if adventure is your
passion, you're in the middle of it. And Costa Rica's wildlife is much
more than just the monkey.

Sport Fishing, Deep Sea Fishing
Flamingo is also home to the Flamingo Marina and naturally offers a
plethora of water sports. Sport fishing charters depart Flamingo with
sights set on sailfish, marlin, tuna, dorado (also known as dolphin),
wahoo, and roosterfish. Each season favors different fish, so there's
no bad season for offshore fishing in Flamingo, Costa Rica.

Scuba Diving
Flamingo is one of Costa Rica's most well-known scuba diving centers.
A local dive shop, Costa Rica Diving, is Costa Rica's only PDIC
Instructor and Certification Center. They offer daily guided diving
trips to the Catalina Islands. The Catalina Islands are only about 15
minutes offshore by boat and are home to Sea Turtle, Giant Manta Rays,
Stingrays, Sharks (the friendly kind), Barracuda, Moray Eels., and
more. Experience the undersea terrain of volcanic rock with 20-80 feet
visibility in 75-85 degree water at depths of 60-70 feet. Diving at
shallower depths, you will see colorful coral and tropical fish such
as various species of puffer fish, porcupine fish, wrasses, parrot
fish, butterflyfish, damselfish, and eel. Costa Rica Diving offers
diving at more than 35 dive sites including the Bat Islands,
certification programs, and snorkeling tours.

Championship Golf
5 miles away is one of the most highly regarded golf courses in all of
Costa Rica, the Garra de Leon, designed by Robert Trent Jones II in
the classic tradition. The course borders 1.6 miles of white sandy
beaches and the Pacific Ocean. The 7,080 yard layout from the back
tees is challenging enough to host a professional event. But the
ravines, lakes, and fairways set against the stunning Costa Rican
backdrop offer enjoyment for all skill levels. Howler monkeys,
iguanas, and more than 105 species of birds, have been spotted here.
Check out the many reviews of this course online.

About 20 miles away, surrounded by hundreds of acres of undeveloped
Costa Rican purity lies the Hacienda Pinilla golf course. Mike Young
designed this course to conform to the natural landscape and preserve
the surrounding habitat. Its 18-holes are spread through 4,500 acres
with an "ocean" side and a "ranch" side offering both tactical and
natural diversity. Recent tallies have revealed 30 colonies of howler
monkeys making homes in the majestic native trees. Hacienda Pinilla is
a must play for all golf lovers.

Canopy Tours
Canopy Tours are a Costa Rica favorite. These tours start by taking
you into Costa Rica's dry forest. After a short hike to the first
platform, you spend the rest of the tour repelling and flying along
suspended cables (ziplines) from treetop to treetop hundreds of feet
above the ground. Cables can range from 150 to 400 feet long. In
addition to pure exhileration, if you are lucky, you will see wildlife
that calls the treetops home.

ATV Tours
For you adrenaline junkies, ATV four wheeler (a.k.a. quad bike) tours
will lead you through the jungle's terrain of hills, rivers, and
beaches. Within minutes you will find yourself immersed in the dry
forest experiencing it up-close and personal. Tours are led by
bilingual guides who will point out the finer aspects of the tropical
dry forest while experiencing the thrill of motorized conquest. Make
sure you pack appropriate clothing for this tour (i.e. something you
don't mind getting dirty, wet, muddy; appropriate footwear; and long
pants if you want to protect your legs.)

Arenal Volcano
Arenal is Costa Rica's most active volcano. During the day you'll see
steam coming from the crater & hear lava rock tumble down the slopes.
Most nights you can see Arenal spewing lava into the starry sky.
Nearby, relax in pools naturally heated by the lava. Arenal Volcano is
accessible via day trip from Flamingo Beach.

National Parks & Private Preserves
Many National Parks are near or accessible via day trip such as:
Marino Las Baulas National Park, Las Baulas National Marine Park
(turtle nesting), Palo Verde National Park and Wildlife Refuge, Vida
Silvestre Ostional Refuge, Tamarindo Mangroves & Estuary, Rincon de la
Vieja National Park, and the Monteverde Cloud Forest.

From Flamingo, there is something for everyone. And the list goes on
and on...sailing cruises, sunset cruises, sea kayaking, wave runners,
surfing, bird watching, horseback riding, hiking, tennis, rafting,
shelling, Spanish Language school, and shopping.
