     Description

Introduction
Nestled in the mountains below the Sierra Tejeda Nature Reserve, is
the picturesque Andalucian village of Canillas de Aceituno, 50mins
from Malaga and 1hr30 from Granada airports. The villa is 2 mins.from
the village, 15mins from a big town, 20mins to the coast and roughly
1hr 30 to the magnificent Alhambra in Granada.

The Villa
Our villa has 3 bedrooms (1 double, 2 twin), lounge, dining area,
kitchen and bathroom.

It is simple and unpretentious, with high vaulted, beamed ceilings,
pine doors windows and shutters. It is well equipped and simply
furnished. There are terracotta patios to the front and beside the
private swimming pool, (the front one shaded by a traditional large
carob tree) and a rear terrace.

The house is set in grounds of 5000sq. m. with a cultivated garden,
fruit, nut and olive trees and native wild areas. You are welcome to
pick figs and almonds if they are ripe. The front and side of the
villa are covered - this keeps the rain and sun off the door and
windows and offers an additional sheltered place to sit.

The dining area has a large extendable table and six chairs. There
are two gas heaters and a fire (but you may well find the villa cold
in bad weather if you are used to central heating).

The bathroom has bath and shower, loo, bidet and basin.

All bedrooms have large built-in pine wardrobes.

     Amenities

You will find games, some toys, cassettes, CD’s portable players and
a CD/tape/radio unit, an information file and many books. We have
elected to have no TV,for greater relaxation and sociability and
there is no telephone.

The kitchen is well equipped with cooking and tableware, including
electric kettle, toaster, sandwich maker, food processor and coffee
maker. There is a gas hob, a combination convection/grill/microwave
oven, a fridge/freezer, an iron and board, and all the necessary
cleaning equipment. There is no washer or dish-washer, as we believe
these to be wasteful of water and frankly unnecessary for short
stays, but you can arrange laundry with the caretakers if necessary
(at extra cost).

Outdoors, there are tables and chairs, picnic and garden bench,
parasol, and sun-loungers. A built-in BBQ is next to the pool.

     Attractions

Things to do
For a restful holiday but close to the coast and tourist attractions,
this is the place for you. You can wander around the hills, visit
the ’bat cave’, passing an old mill and pool, or swim also in fresh
mountain water in the Sierra Tejeda Park.

Within 30 mins. you can visit awesome caves at Nerja, and find aqua
park, horse riding, go-karting, golf, pedalos, jet-ski, wind-surf,
scuba and restaurants galore.

A little further away visit the old town of Antequerra with castle
and olive-oil museum, see 1000’s of flamingos in Fuente de las
Piedras, watch and eat fresh trout at Rio Frio and bathe in hot
springs at Alhama de Granada, eat overlooking the lake and swim at
Pantano de Bermejeles, all on your way to Granada, with its
magnificent Alhambra Palace and skiing.
Malaga (with an attractive old town centre) and the newly opened
Picasso Museum, Ronda, Seville, Cordoba, Marbella and Gibraltar are
also all within reach.

Of course you can always go nowhere…in spring listen to hoopoo, frogs
and nightingales, find wild flowers, smell the orange blossom; in
summer swim in the pool, sunbathe, or sit in the shade of the carob
tree, hear the goats and sheep, with their bells, as they meander
across the hillsides and watch shooting stars by night.
