     Description

The features placing our apartment as a real winner amongst the top
rentals in Bologna are many. First, its quality -- Olympia is part of
one of the most beautiful and elegant patrician palaces in this
Italian capital of gourmet food, night life and fashion and was
completely refurbished in 2011 with the exclusive use of top quality
materials. Add the absolute quiet of a 1500’s inner courtyard all
windows overlook, its design furniture and furnishing chosen with love
and zest, its position in the very heart of Bologna’s historical
center, the quiet and elegant Via Castiglione bordered with the best
quality shops, stores, restaurants etc. and served by a very efficient
public transportation system with all stops nearby -- the result is an
extremely prestigious and comfortable apartment, by far the right
choice for the traveller visiting Bologna for tourism, business,
conventions, trade exhibits and more. All for a very competitive price
when compared to properties in the same range.

Olympia (about 90 square meters in size, second floor with elevator)
is a light and bright, charming, extremely clean and cozy apartment,
class and atmosphere the key words. An elegant hallway and a patrician
staircase both reminiscent of the great Renaissance Bologna, a gate
and a sturdy safety door, a view over the dome of St. Domenico
Cathedral and the red roofs of Bologna offer the guest total safety,
ambiance and pure enjoyment. One of the oldest and most celebrated
osterias in town is right around the corner for your night fun and
gourmet pleasure. Parking is available at a nearby public, guarded
lot.

     Amenities

As for its layout, Olympia is composed by a large, bright room with
dining and living areas, the latter featuring a great Zironi couch and
a select design, brand new sofa bed that can easily and comfortably
accommodate two. A very large loft with a skylight window and own
en-suite bathroom can accommodate two additional persons in a large
double bed. Both the sofa bed and the double bed have very firm frames
and mattresses. All linen (bathroom, kitchen, bed) are first quality
and provided at no additional charge.

A very efficient kitchen with all tools provided separates the
abovementioned spaces from a bathroom, which, not differently from the
one upstairs, is being kept immaculate and thoroughly sanitized after
each stay. The apartment features a washing machine, a dishwasher, a
large flat screen tv set, top quality dishes, pottery, glassware and
all the accessories one needs for a practical, comfortable stay.
Olympia is air conditioned and heated by a very efficient
timer-operated heat pump system. An internet wifi connection is
provided at no extra charge.

We look forward to having you with us soon.

TESTIMONIALS ==

"A lovely, spacious apartment with every accoutrement a traveler might
need. The apartment is located in a stylish part of historic
Bologna--easier walking distance to shops, terrific restaurants and
sites. Sophisticated travelers will love their stay at the Olympia!"
(Kathryn W., USA)

"The apartment is on via Castiglione, about a 5-10 minute walk from
Piazza Maggiore. It's a lovely residential street of historic
buildings, close to shops and restaurants. The building is quite old,
and has been renovated nicely into condos and a few offices. You enter
through an ancient door into a small courtyard, then go through a
locked gate, up to the second floor (there is a tiny elevator), then
through another locked gate to the hallway where the apartment is. You
enter the apartment at the back of the living/dining room. On the
other side of the room is the galley kitchen, with a half bath beyond
that. There are comfortable stairs up to the loft bedroom and the full
bath. All furniture was in excellent shape, and the place was clean
and ready for us. The air conditioning struggled a bit downstairs
(weather was very hot, upper 90's during our week), but worked well in
the bedroom area and kept the apartment comfortable. The photos on the
website are accurate and represent the apartment well. I found the bed
very comfortable, though my husband thought the mattress was on the
hard side. The bedroom, as it is in a loft, is partially open to the
living space below. The bathrooms were all pleasant and functioned
well. There is no closet space upstairs, but plenty at the back of the
living room. We didn't have any problem with this arrangement. Very
quiet bedroom, all we heard was the cooing of pigeons in the morning
The kitchen worked well for us for preparing breakfasts and simple
meals on nights we wanted to eat in. Full-size fridge, gas stove (you
need to light it manually, not a problem), plenty of pots and
utensils. Paola was great to work with, very responsive to questions.
Her keyholder is an american ex-pat who will briefly go through the
mechanics of keys and stove with you." (Amy G., USA)

"Paola was a great host from the word go. Giving us assistance by
email. This was a good sign. We were not disappointed. The apartment
is in an excellent location. In the very best part of town. Upscale
shops around the corner, peaceful with professional people living
around the neighborhood. A 5 min walk into the center. The apartment
is spacious and well equipped. Would strongly recommend for a stay in
Bologna." (Mark & Martha, USA)

"I stayed a month is this lovely apartment. It's central, silent and
cozy. The owners are super helpful and everything you need is there
for you. It's on a lovely, historic street a hop and a skip to the
main piazza (Maggiore) of the city. I highly recommend this
apartment." (Anna S., UK)

"This beautiful apartment is perfectly located in the very heart of
Bologna, still it''s very calm. It is very clean, with all the
amenities you need for a self catering rental, additionally it''s
arranged in a way that makes you feel totally at home. It''s a perfect
place to stay both during holiday and business trips. The Owner is
very supportive. To be honest, I loved the place." (Beti B., Poland)

"We recently stayed at this truly comfortable and well appointed
apartment. It was clean and a very safe place to spend 2 weeks. Not
only was it spacious but the location was pertect for us. Near
buslines, grocery shopping and restaurants, museums, etc. A compact
kitchen overlooked the courtyard. It was just big enough for two to
prepare meals when you got tired of eating out. Ajoining the kitchen
was a small laundry room, washer only, and a 1/2 bath. There was also
a spacious dining room and living room with working fireplace, and
comfortable sofas for sitting and relaxing added nicely to the stay.
The loft area bedroom was spacious and sunny. The bed itself was a
queen size. There was ample room to sit and plenty of space to move
around. The master bath was adequate with shower/tub, bidet, vanity
with full wall mirror and a towel warmer The owner supplied linens,
and there was some beautiful antiques pieces of furniture. An armoire
in the bedroom added to the ambiance. The dining area was a bright and
cheerful place to eat. There was also another armoire well stocked
with table and kitchen linens along with dinnerware in the dining
area. The kitchen was also well stocked with the usual cooking
utensils. We appreciated the Nespresso coffee maker in the morning for
the great espresso it made. The building is is gated and a small lift
runs quietly between floors. I look forward to returning to this quiet
and homelike apartment." (Carolyn C., USA)

"We spent 11 nights in the Olympia apartment over the Christmas
holidays and would give this location a top rating. The place was
cozy, comfortable, well equipped, secure, and especially convenient
for walking to the historic center of Bologna. Located on the top
floor of a marvelous updated palazzo, the studio apartment is
constructed with an open loft with full bath, while the "downstairs"
features a sitting area, eating area, kitchen with dishwasher, and
half-bath. A bonus was the presence of a small washing machine off the
kitchen. We did not use the foldout couch, but the extra bath was very
nice to have. The bed in the loft was very comfortable, and the linens
were plentiful and of very nice quality. Obviously the owner cares to
make renters comfortable and happy. Renters may want to know that
there are a lot of stairs up to the apartment, but there is a small
elevator for hauling suitcases and groceries. Apart from the excellent
location, we liked best the sense of space and comfort, along with
quiet so near the city center. A possible improvement would be the
installation of an armoire in the loft--closets were all downstairs,
and there wasn't really any place to put clothes in the loft area.
This was on balance a rather small inconvenience. I would not really
suggest this apartment for more than 2 adults for any length of time,
as there is not much privacy between loft and downstairs--everything
is open. However, the downstairs bathroom does offer real convenience
if more than 2 people stay here. It would probably work well for a
family of 3 or 4, if kids could share the couch." (Charlotte E., USA)

"We stayed at Olympia in December and thoroughly loved it. The
apartment far exceeded our expectations. It is very clean, elegant,
quiet, well equipped and extremely comfortable. Very convenient to the
main attractions of Bologna too. You can walk to the Piazza leisurely
in 10 minutes. Downstairs there are quite a few grocery stores and a
small supermarket, but we only had breakfast in the apartment because
it was so easy to be carried away by the numerous wine bars and
restaurants close by. Great atmosphere around the old, patrician Via
Castiglione and a nice view over the Cathedral dome. The host, Paola,
is just wonderful. Absolutely recommended." (Robert N., USA)

"Quiet, comfortable well equipped apartment in a great location
...easy walking to the heart of Bologna ...great value..." (Ron LR,
Canada)

"Stayed here for one week. Bologna is a beautiful city and it was our
second visit. The appartment was very comfortable to return to after a
day out sightseeing. Everything we needed was nearby, bars,
restaurants, markets and food shops. About 30 minutes walk to railway
station, with trains to interesting places including Modena, Padua,
Ravenna." (Catherine H., UK)

"We couldn't have asked for a better location! The Olympia is
perfectly located (even near the city's best gelateria, which is
critical for two children!). We were able to walk most everywhere -
and yet had easy access to the buses to the train station. We loved
the city, it had tons of charm and wonderful hidden gems - and we know
part of what made the stay so great was having the Olympia to return
to every day. The apartment worked wonderfully for our family of 4.
Our boys loved their "space" downstairs, and we loved retiring to the
loft. The apartment is beautifully appointed, little details are noted
and cared for. We had a wonderful welcome pastry which the boys loved,
and we very much enjoyed meeting Paola and getting to know the city.
We highly recommend the Olympia to anyone!" (Christopher B., USA)

"The Olympia proved to be an excellent choice for our one-week stay in
Bologna. The location is perfect, right in the center of the city, a
few minutes from Piazza Maggiore and walking distance to all the major
sites. The apartment, recently renovated, lived up to the description.
Everything worked perfectly and the bed was better than most I've
found in Italy. Paola greeted us at the apartment and answered all our
questions clearly and patiently. Having spent two years in Bologna as
a student many years ago, I'm familiar with the city and I can't
imagine a better choice, for location and amenities. It was a pleasure
to stay at the Olympia and I highly recommend it." (Larry B., USA)

"We have just returned from the vibrant city of Bologna and found this
beautiful apartment to be just perfect, the position was very quiet
but,so close to the busy centre of a very cosmopolitan city, we
arrived at the airport, got straight into a cab who knew exactly where
to go. we were met by Paola at the apartment... She was charming and
explained everything perfectly...this apartment is so close to some of
the most beautiful shops in the world...just a few steps away were
Hermes,Gucci and Louie Vuitton to name just a few.
The apartment is very well furnished and comfortable and would easily
cater for 4 people.
Many thanks for a fantastic stay and would thoroughly recommend this
apartment to anyone who wants to stay in the heart of a very historic
city." (Stuart M., USA)

"We are an older couple. We had a most enjoyable stay in mid July
. Bologna is a real Italian town (not swamped with tourists), with
charming porticos, and a revelation around every bend. It's also an
excellent rail hub for other destinations and day trips. Olymia is
well positioned for one to experience Bologna, especially the charming
Stephan Piazza, which quickly became the heart of our Bologna life The
apartemnt itself is excellent, stylish presentation and more than
adquate to support home cooking and dining after shopping at the
markets close by. The added bonus for us was sharing some time with
the delightful owners." (Julie & Simon R., Australia)

"Bellissimo appartamento, molto pulito e centrale (praticamente in
Piazza Maggiore!), silenzioso e di molto fascino. Siamo stati nel
dicembre ed ha rappresentato uno dei migliori affari mai fatti in
termini di affittanza breve. Estremamente consigliato." [Franco G., Italy]

"The apartment is perfectly situated very close to the historic
centre. it is very quiet and it is lovely to sit by the window and
listen to the church bells and look out at the tree in the courtyard
and the jumble of interesting buildings and rooflines. We stayed for a
week. The apartment is beautifully presented and has everything you
could need - the kitchen is very small but adequate for purpose (
there is even an electric kettle!) and the bathroom is quite homely
but the shower works well and the linens are good. I found the bed
extremely hard, but the sofa bed has a proper mattress and is very
comfortable. As someone else mentioned - it would be good to have some
storage upstairs - there is a locked wardrobe on the mezzanine-
perhaps the contents of this could be moved to one of the cupboards
downstairs so that there was somewhere to put your clothes upstairs?
The living area is spacious and comfortable. We liked being able to
come back when everything closed at lunchtime and enjoy some peace and
quiet before going out again." (Sarah F., UK)

"Great apartment, great location, great owner. Everything at a stone's
throw, with a delicious ice cream parlor almost next door. A first
class rental." (Jim D., USA)

"L'appartamento è molto confortevole,è situato in posizione ottimale
per visitare il centro storico di Bologna. La proprietaria e' molto
disponibile e cortese. Consigliamo questa sistemazione a chiunque
voglia trascorrere un lieto soggiorno in questa deliziosa città."
(Francesco P., Italy)

"Good size apartment, light and bright, perfect for 3-4, extra clean
and elegant, comfortable, quiet and perfectly located in the center of
Bologna - no need for a car. Excellent quality beds with firm
mattresses and frames, fully stocked kitchen. Definitely the perfect
accommodation, highly recommended." (Lars E., Norway)

"This apartment is gorgeous. Very nicely remodeled in an ancient
patrician building, it is safe, quiet and really convenient. It made
our 7 days in Bologna perfect. Two couples can be very comfortable
here. Paola is the perfect host and we all enjoyed visiting with her.
The apartment is centrally located to all of the main attractions in
Bologna. The washing machine was perfect for four people staying 7
days. The wifi worked very well. The four of us highly recommend this
apartment. We had an awesome time there!" (Mary D., Italy)

"We spent 7 days in Bologna and found that the apartment was within
walking distance of all our needs. The train station was slightly far
- we took trains to Parma & Ravenna, and left by train - but it was
good for working off some of the over-eating. We arrived late due to
the Luftansa strike and Paola accommodated this even though my SMS
messages didn't get to her, but to her office." (Ron C., Canada)
