     Description

Casa Caballos is an old sympathetically renovated Spanish Finca. The
large farmhouse and outbuildings have been restored creating two
rental apartments, and the Farmhouse. Each of which have beautiful
views across the olive groves, out to the lakes at Iznajar.

The Farmhouse is a stunning three bedroom house centered aounrd a
typical Andalucian private courtyard. With a large sun terrace,
games room and familly room with satelite TV and DVD player it is a
perfect family choice.
The Stables is a large two bedroomed family apartment. The Tack Room
is a spacious studio, with a separate kitchen and bathroom. Both
have been tastefully and comfortably furnished, with log burning
stoves for the winter nights and private patios for the long summer
evenings. Should you be seeking solace from the busy world, the
apartments have been distanced to provide privacy for all.

We positively encourage families with young children. We have two
ourselves and know how difficult finding child friendly
accommodation can be. That's why our pool has been built with a
toddler’s section (also perfect for non-swimming adults). We have a
small play area and there are plenty of toys. On request we can
provide cots, highchairs and sterilising equipment. Baby sitting can
also be arranged on a limited basis so that you can enjoy the local
night life and fiestas.

Shopping and groceries are easily available in either Zagra or
Ventorres de San Jose, our neighbouring villages. There are also
numerous bars and restaurants just a short drive away, which provide
excellent local food and wines. Tapas are served with every drink.

Casa Caballos is well situated between Iznajar Lake, Montefrio,
Priego de Cordoba and historic Loja. Just an hour from Malaga
airport, or 40 minutes from Granada airport, the coast and Granada,
we are ideally located to explore the Malaga and Granada provinces.
The Sierra Nevada dominates the landscape and there are walks
aplenty amidst glorious scenery and wildlife. Skiing is also
available for those who like to go on the piste.

However you choose to wile away your time, we are always on hand to
offer assistance and ensure that your holiday is a good one.

     Amenities

Puerto Blanquillo or White Haven is a small hamlet nestled in the
Sierra Martilla, at the heart of Granada's olive growing region.
Just an hour's drive from the coast, airport and Granada. The
nearest villages; Zagra and Ventorres de San Jose, both retain a
peaceful, traditional Andalucian way of life that is quickly
disappearing on the coast and in many of the well visited Pueblo
Blancos or 'White Villages' elsewhere.

None of the Bars or Restaurants will appear in the Zagat or Michelin
guides, however armed with a few Spanish words and a phrase book you
will be welcomed by the friendly patrons and locals.

Our nearest villages boast a range of fiestas or feria's throughout
the year. Should you be lucky enough to visit during one of these
you will be guaranteed an unforgettable experience.

The events include feats of daring do by local men on horseback,
funfairs, masks and the parading of the saints through the streets.
All of course topped off with much paella, wine and all night
dancing.

Historic Loja is only fifteen minutes away from us. It's the largest
town in western Granada. There are three large supermarkets and one
indoor fresh market for all your weekly grocery needs. For the
shopaholics amongst you, there are numerous varied shops and a
weekly outdoor market in which to pick up some gorgeous things.

Bars, cafes and some good restaurants are also in abundance.

Casa Caballos looks across the valley to Iznajar lake. Just twenty
minutes away, this is the ideal spot for the fishing and boating
fraternity. Its beach is perfect for a spot of picnicking,
sunbathing or swimming in the freshwater.

Iznajar itself is the archetypal white village, perched atop a cliff
with restaurants, bars and a castle.

Heading north from us is the spectacularly sited town of Montefrio,
just twenty five minutes away. The nearby necropolis and
archaeological site makes a great walk to build up an appetite for
the town's restaurants.

Priego de Cordoba is further north and is full of magnificent
architecture and baroque churches. With a wide range of eateries and
shops, it's a great cultural day out.

The City of Granada is just an hour away with the Alhambra Palace
being one of Andalucia's prize attractions. The palace is rated as
the eighth wonder of the world. With its breathtaking gardens and
glorious palaces and court buildings it's a must see.

The Sierra Nevada provides the backdrop to Granada. Depending on
what time of year you come, you can Ski in the resort or just spend
the day walking in the mountains. The entire range is a nature
reserve and provides the habitats for many of Spain's rarest birds
and animals.

The city itself is a cosmopolitan gem.

Being a big student town, its fringe activities are plentiful, and
so are its tapas. Many bars boast that the tapas served free with
the drinks you buy are more than enough to subdue anyone's appetite.

Other days out include Cordoba and Sevilla just a two and half hour
drive away.

The Alpajurras, Malaga and Almeria are all a must see and in easy
reach. All just waiting for you to discover.
