     Description

Tranquility, serenity, peacefulness to refresh and recharge your
spirit….that’s Casa Baku! Combining old world Mexican charm,
handcrafted furnishings, thoughtful amenities and affordable luxury
creates an enchanting, tropical beachfront getaway to indulge
yourself in “simply being.”

Casa Baku is a spectacular private residence featuring two
guesthouses with fully equipped kitchens, bedrooms with queen size
beds, spacious bathrooms, daily maid service, complimentary welcome
refreshments, outdoor palapa covered terrazas, incredible views, a
pool with outdoor bathroom and shower, all situated along a quiet
beach in the quaint fishing village of La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, just
north of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

Our charming guesthouses are meticulously designed and luxuriously
appointed with the casual elegance of Vallarta style offering
awesome views of Banderas Bay and the majestic Sierra Madre
Mountains in the background. Unbelievable sunrises paint the early
morning skies while incredible sunsets color the skies over the
foothills behind us at dusk. Across the bay, Puerto Vallarta’s
lights twinkle like glistening gems in the clear night skies, whales
play in the warm ocean waters, sailboats snuggle into La Cruz’s calm
harbor, fishermen arrive safely back at port with their fresh catch
of the day. What could be more heavenly!

Each guesthouse has it’s own private, separate entrance. The
spacious bathrooms and kitchens feature colorful, hand painted
Talavera tiles and accessories. Bedrooms feature queen size beds,
luxurious linens, colorfully painted walls with an additional
sitting room for views to the gardens and sea. Pebbles and shells
adorn floor and wall designs, acid etched countertops, bamboo
handcrafted doors, handcrafted furnishings and original artwork
create a luxurious living space with a wonderful rustic flair. The
natural beauty of the outside environment touches your inside living
space with endless views of the bay, mountains, beach and gardens.
The guesthouses are ideally designed for two people however a third
can be accommodated in the downstairs villa.

A brick lined pathway leads you to the pool which is surrounded in
terra cotta and cobalt blue tiles. Take the steps down and head
across to the private pathway leading to the beach. The beach in
front of Casa Baku offers you a delightfully tranquil environment to
get away from it all. There are no jet skis whizzing by; there are
no vendors selling you their wares; there is little to no traffic.
Simply said, it is a natural, undeveloped beach with a touch of wild
thrown in … a perfect space to capture that feeling of being totally
by yourself.

Casa Baku in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle is located on the north coast of
Bahia de Banderas (the western hemisphere’s 2nd largest bay) away
from the hustle-bustle of the more populated international resort
destination of Puerto Vallarta. The small sleepy village of La Cruz
de Huanacaxtle is approximately 15 miles north from Vallarta and the
international airport. It is American owned and operated by
Marianne Jacobs and Mike Loesch.

At Casa Baku, you’ll be touched by the romance of living in the
tropics and the enchantment of the sea while enjoying a simpler life
in a small Mexican village. Casa Baku offers plenty of space
situated on 20,000 sq ft of property away from gated communities and
traditional resort lodgings. Proximity to the village affords you
the convenience of stores, restaurants and live music
entertainment. Buses and taxis, of course, are readily available
when you want to explore beyond our cozy village.

     Attractions

Whether you’re up for lazy days or “not so” lazy days, you’ll find
Casa Baku offers you the choice. Take a 10 minute stroll down the
beach to one of the local palapa restaurants for an ice cold
cerverza (beer) and “huachinango entero” (grilled whole red snapper)
or through the village to get your favorite homemade ice cream.
Visit the local Wednesday tiangui’s (markets), pick out your fresh
catch of the day at the “Pescaderia” (fish market), listen to an
evening of live music talent, dine out at one of the local
restaurants (Black Forest, Caledonia, La Cascada, La Cruz’s infamous
Street Taco’s, El Jardin de Pulpo, Mango Grill, Pub Brittania and
more), visit the art galleries featuring Mexican or Huichol hand-
crafted art (local native Indians), or join yoga or Spanish classes
twice a week at Philo’s Music Studio and Community Center. Or catch
some live music entertainment at any one of the restaurants mose
night during the week. Swimming, beachcombing, snorkeling and
sunbathing are, of course, popular activities as well. And then, of
course, there is the favorite sport of simply “doing nothing” with
the exception of curling up in a cool cozy spot with your favorite
libation and merely soaking up the beauty and tranquility
surrounding you.

Nearby Puerto Vallarta, offers world class shopping, first class
dining, Mexican fiestas, mariachis, many art galleries featuring
famous Mexican artists and more. Or head out to the northern tip of
the Bay to Punta de Mita for a delightful day on the beaches sitting
under palapas, where the shopping comes to you. You can find almost
every Mexican craft available there - hand-woven blankets, jewelry,
hand-crafted wood objects, talavera bowls and platters, leather
goods, etc. Or enjoy a romantic evening at some of our favorite
restaurants, El Dorado and La Margarita, where food is outstanding,
service is remarkable, and sunsets are exceptional.

The whole Bay area is steeped with opportunities for snorkeling,
fishing, whale watching, sailing, swimming with dolphins,
parasailing, scuba diving, eco-tours, jungle adventures, kayaking,
boogie boarding, jungle adventures, horseback riding, golfing at six
different courses, hot springs and more. The list seems to be
endless.

After returning from a day of adventuring, Casa Baku offers you
awesome views, privates spaces and cool breezes to caress you as the
sounds of gentle waves lull you off to dreamland. So whether you’re
fancy is watching the sunrises paint the skies glorious colors,
soaking up the sun, lingering over conversations with candles
glowing in the night or simply gazing at the twinkling stars, we‘re
sure you‘ll be soothed by the tranquility and serenity of Casa
Baku.
