     Description 


'Mountcastle' is a private estate in a jungle garden, a walled
family compound of 6 Bedrooms, 4.5 Baths in the House, Apartment and
Cottage.

Location! Location! Location! 1/2 Block (just 3 houses down our
short block - 50 meters to the water) to the magnificent Pass-a-
grille, Gulf of Mexico beach!

This two story Main House, second story Master Suite Apartment, and
Cottage are the component parts of the Mountcastles' home.

Palms, bougainvillea, bananas, kapok, mahogany, sea grapes, giant
ferns, hibiscus and many other tropical plants add to the beauty,
ambience and privacy of this property.

This home is beautifully furnished and all amenities are provided.
All parts of the property are filled with light and oak antiques and
oriental rugs make this a very comfortable place to vacation.

Great seafood restaurants, boating, a deli, and shopping are all
within easy walking distance....... Bus service and a tourist
trolley stop just a block away. Taxi service is based just minutes
away. The Tampa Airport is 30 minutes from our home, and the airport
limo will drop you off at our front door...you do not need a car!

This home is child friendly with an impressive two-story playhouse
and jungle gym safely within the locked gate and walls of the
compound.

The very large jacuzzi has a 5 foot wall, cover and locked gate for
child safety. This spa is surrounded by bamboo and sea grapes.

Six bedrooms (Cottage 1, House 4, and Apartment 1), Four bathrooms,
One large kitchen and two kitchettes, 4 Living room/Sunrooms, 2
decks, 10 Beds: 1 King bed, 4 queen beds , 2 double beds, a single
bed, 1 double and 1 queen fold-out sofa beds. Sleeps up to 19
comfortably.

Amenities:
Electronics include: 'Always on' cable internet connection and
wireless internet. Cable tv's x 4, DVD and VHS players.

Three fully equipped kitchens, 3 refrigerators (one large and two
small) with freezers, 3 microwaves and 3 coffemakers, blenders,
toosters, etc.

Family size, washer/dryer

Two story jungle gym/playhouse for children with swings, tire swing,
cabin, swinging ropes, etc.

Large gas grill, 4 decks,deck furniture.

Beach chairs, balls, sand toys, beach towels.

Private parking off the street for three cars (a couple more could
be accomodated with street parking passes) - a must at the beach.



 

     Attractions 


Activities: Our idea of a great day starts with a 15 minute walk
down the beach or down the Intracoastal seawall (Pass-a-Grille is
only one block wide!) to the quaint Seahorse Restaurant for
breakfast....morning paper, seagulls screaming, salt air---can't be
beat!! A lazy day on the beach is always wonderful!! An afternoon
nap in the shade on the deck in your own tropical garden is truly
relaxing!! Walking back to the beach for another fabulous sunset is
a local tradition!! A romantic dinner on the deck or an evening out
at one of the fine seafood restaurants nearby completes a great
vacation day!!

Other Activities: The Merry Pier across from the Seahorse offers
deep sea fishing, boats to Shell Island, dolphin and sunset tours,
jet ski rental, and bait and tackle. 8th Ave has some very
interesting shops (including ours - Mountcastle International
Trading Co., Ltd.!). Fort DeSoto National Park, with beaches
consistently rated among the top five!! in the US, is immediately
south of our island. Major league baseball, football, soccer and
hockey are all within a 10 to 30 minute drive. Downtown St.
Petersburg is a 10 minute drive and Tampa is 30 minutes away. But
why drive anywhere? - when you can have one perfect day after
another right there on Pass-a-grille! Yes, I know this sounds
homesick.....we are posted overseas and very much miss our idyllic
island



 

     Rates 



Rent: $3,600 per week Taxes: 11% local lodgings tax. Security deposit: $500 security deposit to be refunded. Cleaning fee: None, included in weekly rental. An alternative, if Mountcastle is not available or if additional room is necessary for a larger group, is our other property, Traders' Haven,just a 14 min walk down the beach. This occupies the entire second floor of our building there. This is a 5 bedroom home in a historic building on 8th Avenue...once listed in Ripley's as the 'shortest main street in America'. It features a lush tropical garden, Jacuzzi, eclectic decoration with folk art imported by these world travelers.
