AN OUTDOORSMEN RETREAT! The Cheyenne is an elegant lodge on a 25 acre country estate sitting on the Appomattox River. Your very own private retreat where you can enjoy all the outdoors has to offer or just relax over coffee and watch the dramatic sunrise on our covered porch or read or snooze in one of our hammocks. As quaint and charming as any country cabin or cottage yet more luxurious than a rustic retreat. This beautiful cedar home sleeps 6 comfortably with 3 bedrooms and 2 baths and is ideal for hunters, fishermen, horsegach riders, ATVers, family vacations, weekend getaways, reunions, small group of friends, and bridal parties and honeymooners. We you reserve the Lodge we open the bunkhouse to you. Horsepower Haven has a huge sportsroom with pooltable, small ice hockey table, lounge, bunks and plenty of room to rollerblade or ride your bikes indoors, dance, or exercise. AND YOU DON'T HAVE TO LEAVE YOUR FURRY FAMILY MEMBERS AT HOME, BECAUSE THE CHEYENNE IS PET FRIENDLY AND WE LOVE HORSES! We are currently cutting trails over 12 acres and fencing pastures for horses. Enjoy hiking, bicycling, riding your horses or ATVs in our wildlife trails; ride on one of our motocross tracks coming by Spring 2009 - one is a mini-track for younger riders; hunt and fish in the 19,500 acres of the Appomattox-Buckingham Forest surrounding us; and enjoy the sandy beach and guarded lake swimming at the Holliday Lake State Park right down the road; or enjoy the rich civil war history of Appomattox, nearby wineries and other area local attractions. Bring your bathing suits and innertubes and float down our shallow lazy river, along the riverbanks, around the bend, ending at our swimming hole. Bring your boats and jet skis. We are close to the James River and Smith Mountain Lake. The Cheyenne is available for weekend, mid-week, weekly or monthly rental.

APPOMATTOX/BUCKINGHAM STATE FOREST Just right down the road from The Cheyenne! Over 19,500 acres of land surrounding our property. HOLLIDAY LAKE STATE PARK is within the State Forest and is a paradise for the outdoor enthusiast. Fishing for largemouth bass, crappie and bluegill in the 150-acre lake; swimming a the park's life-guarded beach where the "Critter Hole" play area is a favorite of young visitors; trails for hikers, bikers and equestrians; a large shaded picnic area, two picnic shelters, two playgrounds, a boat ramp; seasonal full-service concession stand and campstore; and canoe, rowboat and paddle boat rentals. JAMES RIVER OUTDOOR ADVENTURES Rt 60 & Rt 605 - Appomattox For those of you who want to experience the outdoors without bringing all your equipment, the James River Outdoor Adventures offers full service livery, canoe, kayak, tube, and bicycle rentals. All river excursions are designed to give you an enjoyable and leisurely outing with your family and friends. Experience spectacular scenery and plenty of time for exploring and fishing along the way. Shuttle service available. Open May - September. THE JAMES RIVER Hwy 26 & 60 - Appomattox The pristine waters of the James River are the perfect place to bring your boat, canoe, or kayak. There are class I and II rapids, riffles, and rock gardens. The middle of the James is wide and fairly shallow and provides great fishing! Boat access ramp located at Bent Creek at the intersection of Hwy 26 and 60. CARTER TAYLOR MULTI-USE TRAIL Rt. 636 - Appomattox A 12 mile loop trail with diverse terrain circles through the Appomattox-Buckingham State Forest and Holliday Lake State Park. It can be accessed from many area’s in the loop. Hikers, horseback riders, and bicycles welcome. HORSES: HORSE CENTER - Lexington horse shows and competitions every week. BARREL RACING Clayton C. Bryant Arena Rt 26 - Appomattox Come out and enjoy barrel racing at it's best in the new Clayton C. Bryant Arena, home of the great "Hot Shot Rey". Residents and visitors alike are invited to participate, or just sit back and enjoy the shows. HORSE BACK TRAIL RIDES Old Dominion Trail Rides-Pamplin, VA Old Dominion Trail Rides provides quiet, well-mannered horses and experienced equestrian guides to navigate you through some of Virginia's most beautiful country-side. GOLF: MOUNTAIN VIEW GOLF COURSE North Creek Road - Appomattox Mountain View is a full service 9 hole public-private golf course with breathtaking views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. POLICE TOWER ROAD - Appomattox An 18 hole, tournament level, frisbee disk golf course located in the new Appomattox County Community Park on Police Tower Road. SKI DIVING SNOW SKIING AT WINTERGREEN HOT AIR BALLOON RIDES FESTIVALS: Appomattox Cheerz Friday Festivals April-October This fun filled Appomattox event is held at Abbitt Memorial Park in historic downtown Appomattox from 5pm - 8:30pm. Live performances from local bands, great food and fun for the entire family. HISTORICAL APPOMATTOX RAILROAD FESTIVAL - OCTOBER The festival commemorates the Norfolk & Southern railroad's donation of the Appomattox Depot to the Town of Appomattox. The two-day festival is held on Main Street and the surrounding downtown area. Festival highlights include a parade, craft vendors, live bands, train exhibits, food, and lots of activities for the entire family. Liberty University Winterfest - December 2008 WINTERFEST has become one of the fastest growing Christian music festivals in the country and one of the largest winter festivals.
