The perfect place for large groups, family gatherings and office 
retreats, this is a very welcoming and gracious house. The south end 
has cathedral ceilings and consists of: a large, charming, eat-in 
kitchen, equipped for gourmet cooking, with a screened porch off it; 
well-stocked library/diningroom off kitchen; broad hallway (almost an 
extra room) to large, bright livingroom, with fireplace, long trestle 
banquet table (for large groups or game playing), french doors onto 
deck; laundry room/two piece bathroom. The north end consists of a 
large entry hall with stairway (and stairlift) down to lower level; 
two bedrooms (queen-sized) with doors onto decks, large office, 
oversized bathroom/exercise room with two tubs and separate 
toilet/sink area. There are many windows and great views throughout 
the main level, and radiant floor heating and HRV throughout the 
house. The lower level consists of: very large sunroom/bedroom with 
twin beds and lots of space for plopping down mattresses and sleeping 
bags for very large groups; large bedroom with queen-sized bed and 
cot; smaller bedroom with double bed; sitting area with pull-out 
queen-sized sofa-bed, plus long, comfortable sofa good for extra 
sleeping and a screened off bunkbed sleeping area; three-piece 
(shower) bathroom; large play/workroom area with ping pong table, 
darts and sitting area. This house is very well built and ideal for 
large family groups. Kids can make as much noise as they want 
downstairs or outside while adults have quiet conversations upstairs.
 

"Breathe Easy" is a large, secluded country paradise on 140 acres, 
with expansive views of rolling forest and field in all directions, 
in a region with many rivers and small lakes, and close to Georgian 
Bay and Lake Huron, the Bruce Trail and conservation areas. The night 
sky is stunningly brilliant and the Styx River (part of the Saugeen 
River system) is at the base of the property. Great fishing, hiking, 
canoeing, kayaking, and exploration opportunities abound. In the 
heart of an area rich in culture... arts, craftspeople, music, 
theatre, biodynamic (organic, Waldorf) farming community.

Perched atop a humpback hill (one of the tallest drumlins in the 
area) and surrounded by 140 private acres of varied habitat, it 
offers an experience of forests, meadows, wetlands and riverside, as 
well as plentiful wildlife, trees, wildflowers, birds and geology. 
Unsullied by daytime haze or night-time light pollution, you will 
enjoy the clear views of the sky around the clock, marvelling at the 
brilliant canopy of stars, or perhaps even a display of northern 
lights or a meteor shower. 

This private retreat is situated on the Styx River, a part of the 
Saugeen River System, in a region peppered with small lakes and close 
to Georgian Bay and Lake Huron. Winter, spring, summer or fall, there 
is plenty to see and do. 

The many ;lakes and rivers provide opportunities for swimming, 
fishing, canoeing, kayaking and we are in easy driving range of golf, 
downhill skiing (cross-country and snowshoeing out the door) and 
snowmobiling. With a short drive you can visit beaches on Georgian 
Bay and Lake Huron, hike the Bruce Trail and enjoy many other trails 
and conservation areas. 

The surrounding area offers a rich tapestry of cultural experiences, 
too. There are music and theatre festivals (Summerfolk, Symphony in 
the Barn and the Drayton and Blythe Festivals for example); we are 
blessed with many artists, musicians and artisans with the attendant 
studio tours, galleries and special events; Breathe Easy is close to 
an old Amish community; and organic, biodynamic farms are 
intermingled with a wide variety of ecologically sensitive living 
projects (solar, wind, straw bale houses, etc). You can also enjoy 
local events such as the Durham Herb Show, the Wood Show, the 
Northern Lights Festival and much more.

RENTAL FEES:
Can$2500/week for up to 12 adults; young children stay free. Over 12 
adults we add a modest fee per person. Weekend rate from $1500. We 
use a complex pricing formula based on time of year, holidays, number 
of persons, stay length and group type to arrive at a fair price.

The rental fee includes everything - all linens, towels, firewood and 
propane, our resident stock of herbs, spices and condiments to 
supplement your cooking needs, and access to our extensive inventory 
of appliances, utensils, books, games and toys.

POLICIES:
A $600 deposit required to hold a date.
Full rental fee required to confirm a booking, at least 2 months 
before arrival.
The $600 deposit becomes your security deposit upon payment of the 
full rental fee and is returned after the inspection, within two 
weeks of departure. 
We do not hold back any part of the security deposit for minor 
breakage, normal wear and tear, or normal cleaning. 
During the summer, check-in is after 5pm Friday and checkout is 
before 11am Friday.
During the rest of the year we are flexible on arrival/departure 
times and the length of stay.
No smoking indoors, no drugs, and no wild parties or rowdiness is 
permitted; please respect our place as your own.
Well-behaved pets and overnight guests welcome but please advise us 
in advance.
