You have a unique chance to live in a truly lovely and tranquil home.
We feel lucky every day and are glad we can share it with some other
people who will get a great deal of pleasure from it. What makes living
here so special is that it is nestled among trees and wildlife, across a
footbridge with a winter creek flowing beneath it, and adjacent to
hundreds of miles of open space. You could walk out the fornt door anad
end up at the ocean of on Mt. Tam.
“Sure, but is it worth the hassles?” Did I read your thoughts?
You might be thinking of the long commutes on country roads, the
distance from the doctor or the market, or just the general feeling of
isolation living in a forest or woodsy setting. You may also see lights
blinking “Seasonal Affective Disordeer - No Dark Woods For Me, thank
you!”. Well, this house is at the end of a road, adjacent to open space
and still is in a friendly neighborhood, a short walk from the bus line
to San Francisco or the ferry and a 40 minute drive in your own car.
We have the perfect balance of privacy with natural beauty and
conveniences with sociability.
The outer beauty is matched by the interior of the house. The
many skylights keep it bright and cheerful, and living here is a feast
of light which is eternally changing. The house is cosy, with a
fireplace and stove, and it is structured in the “great room’ style.
The wood is warm and the furnishings are contemporary with an
international flavor. It is airy and light, with Persian rugs,
original art and again a friendly atmosphere.
There is lots to do here. Most days we walk into the charming town
for coffee and bookstore or just to browse. This is one of the most
beautiful areas of California and some say in the country. Only minutes
from the house are some of the best hiking, mountain biking and nature
trails of Northern Calif. Just a half hour drive takes you to a variety
of destinations. The seashores are rugged or vast flat sands, there are
huge National Forests, the famous Sonoma wine country with vineyards and
wine tastings, Berkeley, and of course the city of San Francisco are all
nearby. All these locales are known for dining, cultural events,
shopping, music and the arts.
It’s also fun to stay home. The kitchen or the barbecue, the
double hammocks under the trees, the outdoor spa, and the great sound
system and wide screen TV all make being here a pleasure. It is a good
place to entertain as well. The combination of a rustic casual style
with California sophistication and artistry makes it suitable to any
occasion or echelon of guests. The outside and the inside are equally
suitable for entertaining and believe me this place can look truly
stunning.
This is not a gated community nor one of privelege. It draws the
off-beat and adventuresome, the iconoclasts and the innovators as well
as many who simply appreciate a simple life and a mixture of diverse
people. The schools are award winning, the library is packed every
night and the general atmosphere is filled with artt music dance
politics and exploration. The coffee shops and many fine restaurants
attest to a mix of interesting and often brilliant individuals. If that
isn’t your cup of tea, the live and let live attitude will let you live
as you wish and still be treated with respect and inclusion, if you
wish. In general, people here tend to love where they live.
