The Anchors Aweigh Inn is located in Gills Rock. It is a modern ranch
home with two bedrooms plus den and two full baths. The home also has
a large, open kitchen area with dining and a woodburing fireplace.
The home is situated approximately 300 feet from a small marina and
boat launch. Its location on Green Bay is one of the prime salmon and
bass fishing areas of northern Door County. There is ample room on the
property to park a boat and trailer or arrangements can normally be
made at the marina to leave the boat in the water.
The home is also within walking distance of the Washington Island
Ferry, charter fishing and sightseeing boat charters, as well as the
Shoreline Restaurant and Voight's Smoked Fish House (the best in the
County). The Anchors Aweigh Inn is two miles from Newport State Park
(one of the nicest sand beaches in the County).
In the evening, walk down to the waterfront and catch a beautiful Door
County sunset. The Gills Rock area is on the "quiet" end of the
peninsula where there is less traffic and noise. If you are looking
for nightlife, however, the other villages are only a short drive away.
