Description
|
|
The Siuslaw River House provides a convenient and cozy base from which
to plan a vacation that pleases everyone in the family, of any age.
Swim or boat off the private dock in the warm, clean, freshwater of
the Siuslaw. The Siuslaw is the home of a river restoration project
that won a prestigious international prize for improving water quality
and contributing to the re-population of fish, including the once
near-extinct coho salmon.
Fly fishing is famous here on the Siuslaw: chinook, steelhead, coho,
and more. Tidal ebbs and flows create ideal fish habitat. Fall and
Winter are the best times.
For biking enthusiasts, there are miles of little-traveled, well-paved
roads to explore the countryside. Or if you like to hike, try the
5-star Sweet Creek Falls Trail in the Siuslaw National Forest just
above Mapleton.
You can also visit Lane County's famous wineries just 45 minutes away,
including King Estate, Silvan Ridge/Hinman Vineyards, and LaVelle
Vineyards.
The quaint town of Mapleton is a 10-minute walk under the bridge,
where you can get a great cup of coffee, good food, groceries, or a
video. Talk to Paul at Country Hardware for expert fishing advice.
If you like coastal activities, Florence is just 15 minutes away, with
its charming Old Town, sand dunes, and opportunities for fishing and
crabbing. Up the coast a short way are the Sea Lion Caves, Heceta Head
State Park, and other coastal attractions.
Activities information, including bike trails and hiking maps, are
provided.
