Aloha and welcome to Ala Kai, a vacation house by the sea.  We are 
located at Kaloli Point on the rugged Puna Peninsula.  Off Highway 
130 between Kea’au and Pahoa, Ala Kai Vacation House is a scenic 17 
mile drive south of the Big Island of Hawaii’s Hilo airport and 25 
miles northeast of Volcanoes National Park

Ala Kai, in Hawaiian, means by the sea or road by the sea.  Nestled 
behind the main house, the vacation house or Ohana has its own Ala 
Kai charm.

For the early risers, we invite you to start your day with the often-
spectacular sunrise on the ocean.  Then enjoy breakfast on your own 
lanai with local fruits, vegetables, and coffee, purchased at the 
farmer’s market.  Stroll along the oceanfront, hike over lava fields 
or wander through the rainforest.  Be sure to relax on the lanai to 
enjoy the ocean breeze, read your favorite book or watch the whales 
from December through April.  End your day with a cookout on the 
lanai, and then stargaze.

Nestled behind the main house, the two bedroom vacation rental 
(Ohana) comes with a carport, fully equipped kitchen and its own 
lanai with an ocean view.  With a pull-out couch in the living room, 
the Ohana will accommodate five people.  Other amenities include 
satellite television, DVD and CD players, games, puzzles, washer and 
dryer, microwave and barbecue grill.  Children of all ages are 
welcome

The Windward side of the Big Island provides a wealth of activities, 
including:  snorkeling in tide pools, swimming in hot ponds, 
exploring a petrified lava tree forest, or watching the magnificence 
of the lava flows.  Your hosts are delighted to provide suggestions, 
directions and a list of nearby restaurants.

Our nightly rates are $100 - $150.  Weekly rates are $600 - $900.
11% tax is added.  Master Card and Visa are accepted.

A one night deposit is required and is refundable no less than 15 
days prior to reservation date.
