A Quiet Spot for a Vacation.
This comfortable rustic four bedroom house is located at 1700 feet,
high in the foothills of Stratton Mountain.
A beautiful pond is but a couple of steps away from the house. Located
on a dead-end dirt road, it is both quiet and convenient.
The House is 1.5 miles from the Stratton Base lodge, a ski area in the
winter. Tennis, golf, horseback riding and concerts held in their
outdoor shell are summertime features.
Spacious & Comfortable.
Warm and friendly, the house is comfortably furnished for easy
housekeeping including, bedding, dishes, cutlery and utensils.
Everything is provided except sheets, pillowcases and towels. The
newly renovated eat-in kitchen is electric with a dishwasher, electric
range, microwave, full size refrigerator, coffee grinder and coffee
maker. A deep well gives pure water. Hand-hewn beams, pine-paneled
walls and a brick fireplace are living room features.
Downstairs there are two bedrooms. Each has a double bed. There is
also a split bath. There is a shower and sink in one room and a sink
and a lavatory in another room.
Upstairs there are two bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with a
double and a single bed. Additionally, there is a European style
bedroom with a single bed and a skylight. There is also a bathroom
with a shower. In the basement is a washer and a dryer. If another bed
is needed, the living room futon can be used.
Outside of the house is a Weber Grill for cooking steaks, corn,
hamburgers and hot dogs.
The house sits on a piece of property with two other vacation
dwellings: the Rustic Cole Cabin and what we refer to as Jeremy,
Sheila and Sam's Place. This third vacation dwelling was built in the
early 70's and is attached to the house. It has its own driveway and
entrance and is not rented. (not pictured)
A Private Pond.
The three quarter acre pond offers refreshing swimming and trout
fishing. It is both brook and spring fed. A rowboat is provided for
fun. The grassy banks of the pond provide safe and easy entry into the
water and are a great place to enjoy the sun on a hot day. A lovely
screened gazebo graces the far shore. Beyond the pond is a brook,
crossed by a sapling bridge that opens wild acres for exploring and
hiking. The pond is shared by the cabin, but otherwise is private.
Lots to Do Nearby.
It is a pleasant hike on the Long Trail which runs through Stratton
Mountain or to a waterfall at Pikes Falls and to a wilderness lake.
Pikes Falls is a beautiful rocky place for diving, sun bathing or
hiking as well as a cool dip. The water is very cold even in the late
August.
Within a few miles, up at the Stratton Inn or down in the valley are
good eating places, country auctions, fairs, antiques and within a
half an hour's drive, concerts and summer theater. Weston and Dorset,
Vermont have first rate Summer Stock Theater. Manchester is outlet
store heaven for the shoppers in your group.
A Good Place to Relax.
There is FM radio, a DVD Player and Satellite TV (DSS). All the
networks including ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox and PBS as well as many cable
and movie channels are available. Local stores rent movies you can
play on the VCR or DVD player.
