A ten-minute drive from Chapel Hill will find you off the beaten
path and onto a twenty-acre working farm. Enjoy the splendid sunsets
on the deck, overlooking the barnyard, gardens and pastures. Leave
behind the hectic, fast-paced techno-world and breathe in the sounds
and smells of Nature.
Prepare your meals in a fully-equipped kitchen: make a country
breakfast with locally-produced foods and eggs from our sassy hens,
stocked for your convenience when you arrive. Enjoy a cool drink on
the deck or snuggle up on the sofa and read a book from our small
library. Then retire to the luxury queen-sized bed and drift off to
sleep listening to a chorus of crickets and frogs.
A pastoral setting is the backdrop for your visit, whether for days
or weeks. Your stay will be enhanced by the many comforts and unique
features found in the Barnhouse that give it a charm of its own.
"Sleeping in the Hay" is an expression used throughout Europe as a
phrase for guests staying on a farm. It is a centuries-old tradition
and very popular across England and France, Australia and New
Zealand, and a few places in Northeastern US. At Genesis Farm, we
extend that tradition and invite folks to a "sleeping in the hay".
Our farm stay offers visitors the opportunity to help with the daily
chores right along with the farmer: gather eggs, care for our
critters, work the gardens.
Too much work? Then just relax on the deck or by the pond, take a
nap or a walk and enjoy the scenery. Either way, you'll experience a
taste of Southern, small farm life.
