Black Hawk Weyr is a beautifully appointed 2-story mountain cabin
situated in an old Douglas fir forest on the coastal mountain range
in Northern Mendocino County, California, ready for a romantic
getaway or a family adventure.

Quiet, stars, moonlight, natural wildlife (no large predators that we
know of), hiking, resting, pick apples from our tree during season,
bounce on the big outdoor trampoline, swing on the tree-hung swing,
sit and enjoy the view on the rear deck, read books, watch old
movies, listen to the logs pop in the woodstove. Upper story features
a lofted grand master bedroom with a California kingsize bed on
beautiful hardwood floors and two small children's (or singles)
bedrooms appointed to charm the younger set. Our DVD/VHS library
includes many family films, our library is eclectic and includes
childrens' books, and there are toys here for little ones. The
kitchen comes fully equipped with a dishwasher, full sized
refrigerator/freezer and electric stove with oven, pots & pans,
dishware, antique dining table, herbs & spices, even a corkscrew. You
can shower outside in the mountain air, or luxuriate in our 70 inch
long soaker tub in the gorgeous wood and tile bathroom surrounded by
candles and the sounds of the forest. Mountain spring water, all
environmentally safe cleaning and bathing products provided.

45 miles from the gorgeous California coastline at Mendocino/Ft.
Bragg, within easy reach of swimming in the Eel River and the
northern Russian River; watersports including fishing on Clear Lake;
halfway between the distinct, historic, wonderful small towns of
Ukiah and Willits. Approx 126 miles (2.5 hours) north of San
Francisco via US Hway 101. Nearby coastal villages of Mendocino and
Ft Bragg offer a sophisticated arts community ambiance; many local,
internationally reknowned artists live there; galleries, shops, and
spas abound. Nurseries with species of Rhododendrons and deciduous
azaleas as well as featured gardens are to be found all along the
highway from Willits to these coastal cities. Willits (5 miles from
Black Hawk Weyr) features the Skunk Train, a mountain trainride
adventure the whole family will enjoy, as well as Wild West Rodeo
Days in late summer. Its other attractions include friendly local
people, a nice urban park, a movie theater, bookstores, community
theatre troups, art and California crafts galleries, coffee bars,
decent diners, a great natural foods store, and also general shopping
in chain groceries and pharmacies. Ukiah (10 miles south of Black
Hawk Weyr) features museums, some of the best Asian vegetarian food
anywhere in the world, and performances by a world-reknowned School
of the Arts, as well as thriving arts and crafts fairs and a
wonderful County Fair in late summer, and large mall-type shopping
experiences. Live music performances can be located by calling a
local radio station. The Eel River and northern Russian Rivers have
great swimming spots, and Clear Lake is a short distance with
fishing, boating, and water sports. Several casinos are also within
easy driving distance.
