Get out of the city and on to the Island!
Why stay with strangers? The Kate McCall is part of a new
alternative to traditional beach houses and bed and breakfasts.
We’re not a crowded shack on the sand and we don’t sell you a room –
you rent the whole historic Victorian house. This means on a lazy
Sunday you can lounge in your pajamas, prepare special family meals
in the fully equipped kitchen, or have a small cocktail party in your
antique furnished parlor and still be just minutes from the water.
A 1900 Storm Survivor, the cozy Kate McCall sits in the heart of
Galveston's hub of activity after having made an unexpected trip to
sea. According to local legend, this house washed into the Gulf
during the 1900 hurricane and returned to Galveston Island at East
Beach. Firmly replanted upon her foundation, along with a couple of
extra "also found" rooms, this determined dwelling is one of the
islanders' favorites.
Quiet and serene inside, this 1869 house is steps away from Bishops
Palace and Sacred Heart Catholic Church and only five easy blocks
from the Seawall.
A stay at this no-host home will include an equipped kitchen,
luxurious cotton bedding and Turkish towels, and it is beautifully
decorated with European and American antiques. Cable, local phone,
and wireless internet access keep this Victorian modern. Kate McCall
is not your average island beach house!
You can escape to the Island and be minutes from the Gulf of Mexico
and beaches, a quick trolley ride from The Strand, a quick jaunt from
the city’s fine restaurants or cruise terminals, all while
vacationing in an historic District.
The Kate McCall is rented at a flat rate. There is a two-night
minimum required. Rates are approximate, packages are available.
