 Description

Aslantic House is situated in a gated, private, tranquil seven acre estate along Tortola’s north shore. The dramatic position is emphasized by the three sided ocean view - on one side overlooking Little Bay with its beautiful, secluded half-moon beach and on the others, impressive cliffs looking across the straits to Guana Island. For more than two decades, Aslantic House has been a private family vacation home and, in fact, still remains so. You are invited to share this spectacular haven with your own family and friends, where the natural ambiance of this tranquil setting facilitates the vacation of a lifetime. While Aslantic House’s unique location offers unusual privacy, it also allows easy access to the rest of the island and is perfectly placed for whatever you want to do. Just twelve minutes from the airport, it is also only five minutes over the mountain from a variety of grocery, superb fish and convenience stores. To reach Road Town, the capital of the BVI, one has a choice of taking the Ridge Road which runs along the spine of the mountain that extends the length of Tortola or the scenic coastal Blackburn Highway. Either way, it’s less than a thirty-minute trip. Some of the island’s finest dining is located not far away along the coast road towards Road Town. Aslantic House is a complex of five principal buildings and pavilions, each projecting a subtle East Asian influence and giving onto breathtaking views in nearly every direction. There are five bedrooms and four baths, all of which have been recently renovated and which are housed in four separate buildings. Winding travertine paths and terraces join the buildings. There is easy access to the beach at Little Bay by a path leading from the pool terrace down through the trees. Through the garden, a path leads to a stone seating area with breathtaking views of the cliffs & water below, while from the natural field beyond lie further dramatic vistas of the sea from high above centuries-worn rock ledges leading to the water. Framing the setting are numerous towering Norfolk pines that began their lives as small family Christmas trees over the past 24 years. As you pass through the entry pavilion, pathways fan out to Aslantic House’s accommodations. To the right is the dining pavilion overlooking both the gardens and seaside cliffs with a "blow hole", one of only several in the entire British Virgin Islands. To the left is the main entry hall. Passing through here, with the gourmet kitchen on the left, one enters the living area of the main building which is attractively fitted with indirect soft lighting and high airy plantation style exposed wood ceilings. The adjoining dining area features a large glass topped table that will comfortably seat 8 guests and is situated to provide a pleasant breeze. Cool limestone floors and large French doors lead from the living area to another shaded terrace which features a large dining table with views through the trees west along the Tortola coast. Just eleven steps below the main building is the pool pavilion that serves as the principal common living area. Spacious and open with unusually high ceilings, it is equipped with its own wet bar, fridge, ice maker, visual & sound system, and library of books and games. From the terrace at its end, atop a dramatic 30 foot stone wall, one can see for miles down Tortola’s north shore to Jost Van Dyke some 14 miles away. In the evening over cocktails, you can watch spectacular ocean sunsets from this vantage point. The bedrooms are all large and airy with an overhead ceiling fan in each. The master bedroom is located two steps up from the sitting area of the main building and has a king bed and air-conditioning. The room has superb views out to the Atlantic Ocean and Little Bay. This bedroom has a full en suite bath complete with Portuguese granite counter tops to complement the similar décor throughout the house’s other bathrooms. There is also a walk-in closet with built-in shelves - large enough for all you may have brought with you! Beyond the entry pavilion is a guest bedroom with queen bed. Adjoining this room is a twin bedded room. They share a very large full bathroom with views to the ocean. From the rear terrace the view overlooks the dramatic seaside cliffs. Both rooms have a large hardwood corner wardrobe handmade on the island with ample space for all belongings. Around the corner with its separate entry is the owner’s suite. It enjoys 180-degree views of the cliffs, Atlantic Ocean, Little Bay, and neighboring Lambert Beach. This large split-level space includes sitting-dressing area, bath with connecting outdoor walled shower overlooking Guana Island, and large bedroom with a hand carved Indian four poster king bed. This room has a 20-foot ceiling and large French doors giving onto a wraparound terrace with truly incredible views. Just down a few steps from the terrace, one is invited to explore the end of the promontory that feels like being on the prow of a ship. The fifth bedroom is in a separate building called the Stone House, to the left of the garden entry path. It features 360-degree exposures including a private entry off the garden and views of the Little Bay beach through the hillside treetops. It has a king four poster teak bed plus an antique Thai day bed which can be used for an extra single sleeping arrangement. While wrap around exposures and ceiling fan enhance the normal seasonal tropical breezes, this bedroom is also equipped with air-conditioning for optimal privacy. The utility space is conveniently located for all guests beneath the Stone House and contains a large laundry facility with two washers, two dryers, long folding table, ironing board and additional freezer.
