Completed in May, 2009, our vacation rental consists of an 1800 s.f. 
upper floor, accessible by a flight of stairs leading from our 
private road level parking spaces. There are two lanai with private 
tree top views. The cathedral ceilings are up to 13 feet high. The 
large windows let the surrounding tree tops and the green mountains 
with silver waterfalls become part of our personal space. Most of the 
home is one large room, with porcelain tile floor and includes a 
kitchen, dining area with seating for eight, comfortable living room 
area and office area with space for your laptops. There are 
spectacular views in all directions. 

The expansive master bedroom suite has solid teak floor, 
large windows, plenty of closets, lanai, queen size bed, and 
bathroom with double sink, 5 foot shower and separate Jacuzzi bath. 
The second bedroom has teak and tile floor, queen size bed, 
large window and closet. It adjoins the second bathroom. The third 
and fourth bedrooms are small, with a twin bed and a place for simple 
clothes storage.
There is a double bed size fold up mattress, and a king size 
air bed with electric air pump for spillover guests. Guests may use 
the washer and dryer.
Kitchen cabinets are redwood and cedar. Countertops are black 
granite. Kitchen is complete with cooking and eating ware, and all 
appliances. 

We have wireless internet and landline local phone service. 
Cell phone reception is spotty, with the master bedroom lanai the 
best spot for calls. The house is wired for cable, although we have 
no TV set. 

The yard has generous lawn area and a variety of fruit 
trees - oranges, papaya, coconut, guava, banana. Our vegetable garden 
has many types of greens. Guests may help themselves to whatever is 
in season.

Our house is about half way between Hanalei town/bay and Ke’e, the 
beach at the end of the road (Haena Park) where the Na Pali coast 
line and walking trail begins.

Less than four miles to  the east is Hanalei Bay and Town. Except for 
summer, when the north shore is placid,  any surfer, boogie boarder 
or body surfer, beginner to expert, can nearly always find a wave 
somewhere along Hanalei Bay suitable for your skill level. Sitting on 
your board, in the warm water, waiting for the right wave, your eyes 
wander to the nearby steep green mountains with silver water falls. 
Hanalei is a charming town, with an array of small shops including 
natural food stores, art shops, surf shops, bike, surf, kayak and 
snorkel rentals and restaurants. The twice weekly farmers market is 
not to be missed for tropical fruits, vegetables, and artisan 
foods.      

One mile to the east is Lumahai Beach , which is actually 3 beaches 
in various degrees of connectedness, depending on the sand build up. 
Visually stunning, with black lava cliffs, white sand, blue ocean and 
green jungle. Great for running on soft sand, then swimming in the 
fresh water Lumahai River  and playing in the waves where river meets 
ocean 

  We are one half mile from Wainiha Bay , a quarter mile long sandy 
beach, ideal for running or sprint workouts in the soft sand. On one 
side is the fresh water Wainiha river, on the other side the ocean. 
Swim in both. Rarely visited, because there are so many other beaches 
nearby.  Another nearby attraction is the Mediteranean Restaurant  
voted the best resaurant on Kauai, and a charming coffee shop and art 
store -- both less than one mile away. 

From Wainiha to the west is four miles of continuous sandy beach, 
ending at Ke’e. Sunsets from anywhere in the last two miles are 
spectacular, with the Na Pali cliffs on the left, the ocean surf on 
the right, and sun setting in the center.

 

RATES

Minimum price is $950 for six nights, and $150 per night thereafter. 
After 14 days, additional days are $140. Monthly rental is $3600. A 
nonrefundable security deposit of $250 will be paid when you reserve 
your time. Rental is due in full 30 days before move in. Cancellation 
over 30 days before move in is with full refund (apart from the$250 
security deposit.)  Cancellation up to 15 days before move in, half 
refund. Thereafter, no refund. Clean out fee of $125, of which $50 
will be refunded for vacating the premises in broom clean condition.
