Lake Sam Rayburn was created by impounding the Angelina River, 
creating a 114,000 acre lake that has a natural shoreline and many 
great fishing holes. The southern end of Lake Sam Rayburn was 
timbered prior to impounding and the northern end was partially 
timbered which has created a great fishing habitat. Should you wish 
to explore the other area lakes (Toledo Bend, B.A. Steinhagen) they 
are a short drive away. This gives the "lakes area" 336,200 acres of 
water, and almost 2000 miles of shoreline for you to enjoy. Rayburn 
Country Resort is located in the Lakes area of the Piney Woods of 
East Texas on the Southeast corner of Lake Sam Rayburn in Jasper 
County. Rayburn Country Resort operates a championship 27 hole golf 
course, clubhouse, lodge, seasonal pool, tennis courts, basketball 
courts, and sports core. Clubhouse and golfing memberships are 
available to non property owners. Mulligan’s Grill in the clubhouse
