The Center, Kirpal Meditation & Ecological Center (KMEC) is set on an
orchard of ten acres surrounded by tropical forest and has an ocean
view from the house. The main purpose of KMEC is to provide a place
for those who seek quietude and a place to meditate.
We ourselves follow the practice of Surat Shadb Yoga - the yoga of
light and sound. Sant Kirpal Singh Ji died in 1974 and was a Master of
this science, and the Center honors his memory. Guests are welcome to
practice their own form of meditation and prayer. For those who
require yoga instruction, Yoga Oasis is just two miles from the
Center.
KMEC is situated a half mile from the Ocean on the eastern tip of the
Big Island of Hawaii, approximately seven miles from the small village
of Pahoa. The 10-acre ocean-view property is blessed with daytime 85°F
weather year-round, 65° F at night, with cool, fragrant trade winds,
and tropical flora, including old growth mangoes, nearby swimming,
surfing and snorkeling.
This property was once a papaya farm and is now newly planted with
bamboo, papaya, palms, banana and many other fruit trees. The
newly-constructed octagonal Balinese meditation pavilion is set among
shade-trees with an expansive view of the ocean. Natural wonders
include Volcanoes National Park (lava and crater viewing),
volcanically heated warm ponds and steam vents (as outdoor saunas) and
other wonders of the lush tropics. There are no snakes.
Kmec opened in the summer of 2008 for pre-arranged seasonal meditation
retreats and private meditation-vacations on request, for initiates
and non-initiates alike. A local Satsang facilitator holds weekly
Satsang at KMEC whenever satsangis are in residence.
