A 2 person stone self-catering cottage, (vacation rental), one of
five award winning cottages on a non-working farm, Cotterill farm,
of just 12 acres, in a glorious location over looking dales and
rolling countryside in the heart of the White Peak area of the Peak
District.
The aerial view (shown adjacent to Cotterill Farm's larger neighbour
Biggin Grange) highlights the wonderful views to be obtained over
surrounding rolling hills and dales (valleys)
This two person cottage, graded at the top end of four star, has a
galleried bedroom overlooking the large living room, in the centre
of which is a log burner standing on a stone plinth acting as a
focal point Please see the interior picture of the cottage,
featuring this log burner. It also has a five piece suite in the large
quality bathroom, (so sepeerte bath, shower cubicle and also bidet)
The cottage has extensive exposed beams and stone-work. The cottage
is 300 yards up our private drive and form part of a courtyard
facing outwards over the surrounding fields and dales to give
excellent views and some degree of privacy. To the side of the
cottages is a large grassed and garden area. There is ample area for
off-road parking.
In the cottage there are seven(!) highly organised information
folders, partly written by the owners themselves who are lovers of
the Peak. Guests have heaped praise on this source of information
which ensure that even those who have stayed with us numerous times
still find plenty new to do. Events lists are supplied in advance
between May and September. Housekeeping and attention to detail is
regarded by the owners, who strive to encourage return visits, as
being of paramount importance as is their concern is to ensure
guests have an excellent holiday. Although consistently graded the
top end of 4 Star (and under the old grading system ‘Highly
Commended Plus’), the owners are constantly striving to improve
standards and services offered.
Cotterill Farm is not remote, being only 350 yards from the nearest
village and pub and just over one mile to what is probably the most
acclaimed village in the Peak District, Hartington, with its famous
old cheese shop, duck pond, old hall, pubs, tea shops and gift shops.
The farm features numerous traditionally built dry stone walls,
which are the famous hallmark of the Peak District, one picture
appears on this site. These walls last about 200 to 300 years after
erection, and some date back therefore a couple of centuries.
