This charming family cottage is located in Section A of popular 
Ocean Sands. It is built on a high dune with panoramic views of the 
ocean and natural landscape to the south. Mermaid Manor has a bright 
and cheerful beach themed decor providing a welcome respite after a 
day in the sun and sand.

Welcome to the perfect spot for an old fashioned family vacation. 
This home provides a collection of entertainment items for every 
member of the family; games, toys, books, movies for those rainy 
days or quiet evenings and volleyball, basketball, horseshoes and 
bikes for the sunny afternoons. There are amenities for the little 
ones, too. A play area under the cottage (out of the sun) includes 
swings, a kiddy car and lots of sand toys. Items like the library of 
books, DVD's and videos, the sippy cups or the pads of paper and 
pencils for the Pictionary, UNO cards, Scrabble, Charades or other 
games will show you just how well thought out the amenities are.

Now for the real reason you come to the Outer Banks, THE BEACH. 
Mermaid Manor is literally steps to the sandy beach and sparkling 
ocean. You'll find beach chairs, blankets, and umbrella, toys AND a 
beach cart to tow them and your cooler of snacks to the beach. Ocean 
Sands South has wooden walkways over the dune making the traverse 
easy for older folks and little ones.

After a day in the sun, your entire family will enjoy the great room 
on the third floor with views of the remarkable landscape and lots 
of comfortable seating. The kitchen is large enough for multiple 
cooks and equipped to enhance the best grandmother or gourmet cook. 
You can steam crabs, roast the bluefish you caught on the beach or a 
turkey from the supermarket, mix a stew for the crock pot to cook 
while you are at the beach, or bake bread or goodies. Two coffee 
pots serve the caffeine and decaf or even a pot of tea hot at the 
right time. Here again the owners have taken care to provide the 
little extras like a spice rack, extra dishes, serving pieces and 
small appliance (even a stand up mixer) that will make you want to 
return year after year. Ample seating at the dinning room table is 
ideal for the family meal whether it's home cooked or take-out. 
There is also a half bath on the third floor for convenience. 

The four bedrooms on the second floor are perfect for you and your 
extended family and/or friends. Two bedrooms have queen size beds 
and one has a full size crib, perfect for couples. Two bedrooms are 
child/teen friendly. One has two bunks (sleeps four children or 
teens comfortably). The other has a twin and a full/twin pyramid 
suitable for a young couple or three teens/children. All bedrooms 
have a cable TV with DVD or VCR player, extra pillows and blankets. 

Mermaid Manor has a private well with excellent drinking water. The 
1 mile of vacant land to the south provides excellent views and a 
plethora of wild like including deer, rabbits and the occasional 
fox. Fill the bird feeder on the deck and enjoy visits from finches, 
mourning doves, cardinals and grackles. The spacious decks aren't 
just for sunning. Plan an evening with cocktails on the deck to 
watch the sunset over the sound for an early morning of coffee to 
watch the sunrise.
