 Description

This wonderful nature retreat features a recently built, three story vacation home perched on a bluff with spectacular views overlooking a pristine lake called Knight's Pond. In addition, there is also a delightful cottage style guest house. Sleeps 10+ between the two. The lake is surrounded by conservation land owned and managed by the Nature Conservancy. Both places are beautifully crafted with handsome pine interior floors and ceilings, all tastefully furnished and artfully decorated in the traditional Maine style. This island of natural beauty is surrounded by tens of thousands of other wilderness lands, including Camden Hills State Park, and just 1 1/2 miles to Penobscot Bay! There’s a beach on the lake (10-15 min.walk), and incredible hiking trails all around the area. The location is a short drive away from some of Maine's beautiful coastal communities, including Camden, Rockport, Belfast, Rockland, Blue Hills and more. The lake (Knight's Pond) and the surrounding land is owned and managed by the Nature Conservancy, along with tens of thousands of acres of other conservation lands including Camden Hills State Park, one of the hiking gems of the Maine coast. The lake is about 600' feet from the property, and accessible via a walking path. The beach area is a 15 minute walk. Penobscot Bay is a walkable 1 1/2 miles distant. Some of the best hiking is right out the door, including trails up to the top of Ducktrap Mountain, as well as an old Indian trail which extends around the lake. There is fantastic canoing, and it is possible to canoe or kayak from Knight's Pond through a bog area into Pitcher Pond, and from there to the Ducktrap River which takes you into the Atlantic ocean (via Penobscot Bay) There are many ferry connections nearby to places such as Vinalhaven, North Haven, Monhegan, and Isleboro of which Islesboro is the closest, providing excellent beaches, fishing, biking, touring and more.
