Fire Island is a barrier beach located in the Atlantic Ocean; it
stretches 32 miles long and only 2 blocks wide. It is only one hour
from New York City, off the South Shore of Long Island. The ferry from
Bayshore is a quick 30-minute sail where you feel yourself truly
escaping the everyday.
The Island has long been a popular summer destination. The beautiful
white sand beaches stretching along the Atlantic Ocean, the calming
waters of the Great South Bay, and the narrow quaint walks, where no
vehicles are allowed May through September make the ideal vacation
spot.
A wide range of outdoor activities are available including swimming,
surfing, fishing, clamming, tennis, bike riding, and boating just to
name a few.
Fire Island is comprised of seventeen communities of which no two are
alike. The cottages are located in the town of Ocean Bay Park, one
block from the ferry, and one and half blocks to the beach. OBP is a
laid back, relaxed community located directly East of Seaview, with a
mix of family and singles. There are several waterfront restaurants
and bars, as well as a small market only a block or two away. The
large main town of Ocean Beach is exactly one mile away.
