Canaan Valley is a most unusual place. "Little Canada" old-timers
called it. The highest valley east of Denver 3600 ft elevation; so
much snow in winter that the road use to close for weeks. More deer
than people by a long shot and a real feeling that you are someplace
unique and unspoiled like Yellowstone except much smaller and still
virtually unknown. Canaan Valley hosts two state parks, rustic and
beautiful Blackwater Falls State Park and the newer Canaan Valley
Resort which has an excellent 18 hole golf course. Plus there are two
downhill ski areas in the valley; the largest is Timberline and the
smaller Canaan Valley which now also offers tubing. Also the popular
White Grass cross country ski area and miles of trails in surrounding
Monongahela National Forest.

Other places of interest include majestic Seneca Rocks, the pastoral
Amish farm country in Oakland Maryland, and the rugged Dolly Sods and
Otter Creek Wilderness areas.

Northpoint Cedar Home Community overlooks the Valley

We own a vacation home at Northpoint in Canaan Valley which we call
Hummingbird Ridge. We bought our house because it had a great view of
the valley both winter and summer. You may take a tour of Canaan

Hummingbird Ridge not only offers one of the best views of the valley
summer and winter but is also computer friendly. We have our own high
speed WIFI connection plus 2 TVs, DVD player, 2 VCRs and stereo. Plus
a fully equipped gourmet kitchen with self cleaning oven, DW,
Microwave, etc. Our double decks are well furnished and have both a
charcoal and gas grills. Our new hot tub is 220 hardwired which means
its always on and waiting for you.

Our three bedrooms are spacious and feature firm pillow-soft
mattresses. New linens and towels are added regularly and the lower
bathroom closet is filled with jumbo sized towels to be used when
enjoying the hot tub.

Northpoint Cedar Home Community is located directly opposite
Timberline ski area on the sunrise side of the valley. Both ski areas
and Canaan Valley Resort offer plenty of free parking and both are
less than 5 minutes drive from our front door.

Summertime visitors will enjoy the small farmers markets in nearby
Thomas every Saturday or the larger Amish farm markets 23 miles north
in Oakland, MD every Wednesday and Saturday mornings.

Oakland,Md also hosts a Walmart super market as well as Foodland and
one of our favorite restaurants The Cornish Manor Inn. Nearby Deep
Creek Lake has a Cinema complex (cheap seats for seniors on
Wednesdays) and some interesting shopping and fishing.  

Our base rates do NOT include State and Local taxes. Rate maybe higher
during Ski season and holiday weeks.
