Mode d'Artiste is a spacious vacation rental with computer, free 
Internet access, terrace and original works of art.  It is based in 
the pretty village of Couiza, near to Quillan and Limoux and is a 
short walk from shops, retaurants, 2 patisseries, a bar, cafe and 
both bus routes and a train station.

Local attractions include majestic castles, walks through the 
beautiful Pyrenees mountains and walks and bike rides through 
gentler vallies for the less determined walker, river and lake 
swimming.

The village of Rennes-le-Chateau is 4km, where allegedly buried 
treasure lies, perhaps even the holy grail.  34km is Carcassonne, 
with a magnificent castle and airport with regular flights to the 
UK.  Other airports are Perpignan (60km) and Toulouse (100km).

Each local town has its unique charm and our website include a page 
with photos and information on several local towns - including 
Couiza, Rennes-le-Chateau, Rennes-les-Bains, Esperaza, Quillan, 
Limoux and Carcassonne.

The vacation rental has 3 floors, each fully self-contained, with 
terrace access.  Prices and photos on this page are for the 1st 
floor, which has a double room, twin room and sofa bed in the lounge 
(sleeping 6 in all).  Well-equipped kitchen with microwave, washing 
machine, oven, toaster, kettle, etc. and plenty of good quality pots 
and pans.

The ground floor and 2nd floor each sleep 4 with a bedroom and sofa 
bed in the lounge.  The ground floor has a king-sized bed and door 
onto the terrace and the 2nd floor has a four-poster bed and very 
large open plan lounge and dining area.

Paintings by 3 local artists decorate the vacation rental - Allison 
Carmichael, Vanilla Beer and Catherine Mascres.

Languedoc-Roussillon has something for everyone.  There are 300 days 
of sunshine a year in which to enjoy the beautiful scenery and 
thousands of miles of trails for walkers, cyclists and horse riders. 
Castles dot the landscape, with markets with local produce, 
restaurants with fine food and swimming in rivers, lakes and the 
seaside, which is 1 hours drive away (at Narbonne or Perpignan, with 
quieter beaches nearby).

In the winter we are 1 hours drive from skiing in the Pyrenees.

Rates for the 1st floor gite are from £170 (250 Euros) a week for 1 
to 6 people in the winter (November to April) to £390 (560 Euros) a 
week over the summer holidays.  Prices include free ADSL Internet 
Access, bedding, electricity, heating, tea, coffee, etc.  Towels are 
available to hire for 3 Euros for 3 (a bath sheet, large and small 
towel).
