 Description 


The self-contained cottage adjoining the owner's home consists of a sitting/dining room,kitchen,bathroom and double bedroom all at ground floor level. An ideal retreat for a couple wanting a comfortable and cosy accommodation,the cottage was recently completely refurbished to a high standard in a tasteful country style. All towels and bedding (choice of blankets or duvet), heating and hot water are included in the price. Well behaved dog(s) and other pets welcome by prior arrangement. SITTING/DINING ROOM The front door leads into the spacious sitting/dining room, consisting of a dining table and two chairs,together with a two seater settee and one armchair. A colour television, radio with CD and cassette player, coffee table, standard lamp,wall lights and a central light over the dining table complete the furnishings. The room is heated by two night storage heaters plus an Electric Log- effect Stove. A re-chargeable torch and a night-light are provided. A good selection of books, local magazines, games and jigsaw puzzles is supplied. There is also a plentiful supply of local information with many walks suggested. BEDROOM On both sides of the comfortable double bed are single drawer units with freestanding bedside lamps and a clock/radio. There is also a chest of three drawers with a small mirror, a double wardrobe (plenty of coathangers), a full length wall mirror. A small hairdryer is provided and there are two folding chairs which may be taken out to use on picnics. KITCHEN The kitchen has been newly fitted and is fully equipped with the usual cooking equipment and utensils. The main items being: Electric oven with grill and four ring hob Microwave oven Fridge / freezer Electric toaster Electric Kettle Toasted sandwich maker Cooking utensils, cutlery, crockery and glassware sufficient for four people. BATHROOM The bathroom has a washbasin, toilet, and bath with shower over. An electric shaver socket and light is fitted over the basin. Also included are an electric wall heater and heated towel rail. An iron and ironing board are located in a corner cupboard. OUTSIDE There is off street parking provided for one car. The secluded garden, split into three levels, offers delightful views of the village and the Quantock Hills beyond. Adjacent to the cottage door is a small patio area with table and chairs. A BBQ is available on request.



 Amenities 


Nestling in a valley approximately half way between Taunton and Minehead, STOGUMBER lies close to the Quantock and Brendon Hills and within two miles of the eastern boundary of the Exmoor National Park. The nearest coastline being 5 miles to the north at Watchet. It is the ideal location for beachcombers and country walkers alike. Long before one enters Stogumber, a focal point to catch the eye in the centre of the village is the fourteenth century red sandstone Church of Our Lady St.Mary. Across the square, facing the church. the White Horse Inn is a traditional village freehouse providing a warm and friendly welcome, home cooked food and an excellent selection Cask Marque accredited West Country brewed Real Ales. Dogs on leads are very welcome here. The Central Stores and Post Office conveniently located next to the Inn offers a wide range of groceries, fresh and frozen produce (bread, milk and vegetables are supplied to the shop fresh each day by local tradespeople). Newspapers, postcards and stationery can be purchased here, and Post Office facilities are available. This hub of village life is all within a 10 minute walk of the cottage.



 Attractions 


On the edge of Stogumber one can enjoy the opportunity let the train take the strain as the West Somerset Steam Railway, running from Bishops Lydeard to Minehead, passes through our tranquil and delightful station making it easy to forget the hustle and bustle of 21st c life. Following a track of just over 20 miles, this is the longest privately owned steam railway in the country. There are many National Trust or English Heritage properties within easy driving distance. Dunster Castle situated in the charming medieval village of the same name, and famous for its Yarn Market, is approximately 20 minutes drive away on the route to Minehead. For the garden lover Taunton's lovely Hestercombe Gardens are approximately 16 miles away. There are numerous other gardens open to the public, many of which are small, private havens of tranquillity. Each year in Stogumber during the second weekend in June there may be between 12 to over 20 gardens open to the public to raise money for local charities. With a host of good pubs and tea rooms serving competitively priced meals of excellent quality, Somerset also caters for discerning lovers of good food.

Other well behaved pets considered. Easter, Christmas and New Year holiday weeks are charged at a higher seasonal rate. Short break tariff available upon request. A deposit of 20% is required at the time of booking. A telephone booking will be held for four working days only. Payment in full is required six weeks before the date of the start of the holiday. Guests are advised to take out holiday insurance in case of cancellation. Refunds will only be considered if we are able to rebook the cottage for the same dates and will be subject to an administration charge. All prices fully inclusive of electricity and linen. We can provide a choice of duvet or blankets. Unless by prior agreement all holidays run from Saturday to Saturday. On the day of arrival the cottage will be available from 3pm. In order to maintain our high standards, guests are respectfully asked to vacate by 10am on the day of departure to facilitate the preparation of the cottage for incoming visitors.
