 Description

"Hibiscus Heights" is located in the Grafton area, on a scenic ridge overlooking the Caribbean Sea ... away from the crowds of the lower- lying tourist districts. Crown Point Airport is a 20-minute drive away, but the owners of this property are pleased to meet and personally see off their guests for nothing extra. Car rentals can also easily be arranged beforehand. This impressive top-floor Villa, offering spacious living for 6 people, has a huge wrap-around verandah (over 125 ft.) for viewing the turquoise sea, and old-time wooden shutters with high ceilings for catching the warm breezes. The large and airy Master bedroom has a king-sized bed, walk-in closet and en-suite bath. The other 2 guest bedrooms have queen- sized beds, high ceilings, and are also quite roomy. All beds are 4- poster, very romantic, with firm mattresses for many restful sleeps. Silent air-conditioning units have also recently been installed in all the bedrooms. There is an open living/dining area and the kitchen is immaculate. There are over-head fans in every room, all tastefully decorated, with many pieces of furniture hand-made by locals. There is a swimming pool at the back, surrounded by a tiled sun terrace, to which guests of this top villa have exclusive access. Set off the kitchen and equipped with a comfy patio set and loungers, it's perfect for al fresco dining after dark. With its annex, a cozy and self-contained cottage (listed separately), "Hibiscus Heights" is an ideal setting, not to mention the most economical choice, for large groups who want to be close but still have their own space. All three units can sleep 12-15

 Attractions

Tobago is not a volcanic island like most of the other Caribbean islands. Once a part of South America, many of the same species of plants and animals found on that continent abound here. So -- whether 'booting it' through Tobago's majestic rainforests, strolling along one of the island's many sanctuary trails, or simply reflecting amidst the radiant colours of Scaarborough's well-groomed Botanic Gardens -- you'll see: beautiful beaches are only a small part of what this tropical isle has to offer. Indeed, Tobago has been hailed worldwide as a premiere 'eco-tourism' destination. Its exquisite reefs are home to an explosion of marine life (over 1,000 species identified), making the best diving and snorkeling experiences frequent happenings in and around Tobago's waters. Since 1776, the island's MainRidge Forest Reserve has been legally protected, making it the first tropical rainforest to be legally protected in the western hemisphere. Tobago is also one of the few places left in the world to which critically-endangered populations of Hawksbill, Green & giant Leather back sea turtles return every year to lay their eggs. "Hibiscus Heights" is about a 5- minute walk away from Great Courland Bay; the long sandy beach there is a prime nesting site. The Villa is also ideally situated close to a 200-acre Wildlife Sanctuary & Cocoa Estate bird-watching trails. Between December and February, waves are the biggest attraction in the area. It is only a 10-minute walk to Mt. Irvine Beach, a favourite with surfers worldwide, where there are also kayaks and motorised sea-craft to rent. The world renown Mt. Irvine Golf & Beach Resort is just up the hill. Snorkeling in Back Bay, a small secluded bay between Mt. Irvine and Grafton beach, is highly recommended. Imagine the sights, you're there suspended at the surface or leisurely kicking along, only colourful schools between you and the coral-rich world below. For close-ups: there's a fully-equipped PADI dive shop, on Grafton beach, offering instruction for newbies and refreshers for old pros too. Yoga, Tai-chi & Stretch Classes, Holistic Treatments & Massages are all offered nearby in Crown Point, at Kariwak Village Hotel. Horseback Riding on the beach! TaeKwonDo, the fastest growing Martial Arts sport in the world: classes offered at Tobago TaeKwonDo, a school officially recognized by the T&T TaeKwonDo Association which is the foremost governing body for TaeKwonDo in Trinidad & Tobago. Tobago hosted its first Jazz Festival in 2005 and it was such a huge success, last year featuring big-name stars like Sting and P Didee, that it became an annual event. And hopefully, one day, it'll be an institution, just like the long-standing "Sunday School" street-pan party held weekly in Buccoo is. Maybe even more so than Carnival (admittedly a far more intense celebration in Trinidad, Tobago's sister isle), the Jazz Festival promises to be one of this island's most popular events; a place where locals and visitors can interact, people-watch, just join in a really big jam session.
