A magical,quiet, up-country retreat. You can relax in the hammock, or
go for a hike into Waipio Valley, which is only a 20 minute ride from
Hale O` Mahea-Lani, "House of the Full Moon." While soaking in the
hot-tub after a deep body massage...you can look out over the gulch
and take in the cobalt blue ocean with the island of Maui peeking
through the clouds.  The ohana is fully turn-key and has a full
bathroom and kitchen.  The living room area has a pot bellied stove,
(not that you will need it), dish network T.V. and a FAX machine and
computer hook up.  The property is five acres and has chickens willing
to give you fresh eggs every morning for that special omelet.  We are
located 8 minutes from the belt road, or Highway 19, which goes around
the entire island. We are between Kona and Hilo on the Hamakua Coast,
also famous for its sugar plantation.
You may choose to make your own meals, or check out the quaint towm of
Honoka`a where you will find some ono local restaurants.  Waimea, or
Kamuela, (the Paniola town), is only 20 miles from Hale O` Mahea-Lani.

The ohana is another word for house in Hawaiian. The ohana sleeps
five, but is generally best for a couple, or a small family, (3 ). 
There is a fridge, gas stove, microwave, dishwasher, and hot
water-on-demand heater. Local calls are allowed, but long distance
calls should be made with a calling card. Cell phone reception is
good on the lanai. The ohana has its own bubbling hot tub with
complete privacy on the back lanai.Massages are available on request
for $60.00. There is plenty of room for parking. We do have horses,
chickens, a dog, wild turkey, pheasant and two cats on the property,
all very well behaved and friendly. Fruit trees are available to
guests and we encourage you to enjoy the local fruit when it is
available: bananas, pineapples, guava,oranges, limes, lemons, papaya.
If you choose to have a continental breakfast at the main house you
just need to let us know the night before.
