Brand new Key-West style cottage located on wide "rim canal" with 
access to Lake Okeechobee less than one mile away. Open plan includes 
Living room, Dining room, Kitchen and Family room.  French doors from 
Family Room and Master Bedroom open to large porch overlooking canal, 
with long views in both directions.  Manatee, fish jumping and a 
myriad of birds can be seen at all times of day.  Decorated in 
sophisticated "fish camp" style, with all new furniture, except for a 
few vintage 50's solid maple items -- dining room and lodge chairs.   
Two recliners in family room provide "kick back" comfort for watching 
TV.  Large screen TV in Living Room. Direct TV "basic" service can be 
upgraded by renter.  

Master bedroom is on first level, with bathroom with shower, lots of 
storage in dresser and large closet.  Includes a Queen sized bed, 
large dresser and french doors to the porch overlooking canal.   
Upstairs there is a bedroom with twin beds, large closet, dresser, 
bathroom with shower, and Loft that has a daybed with trundle (sleeps 
2) and dresser.   

Everything is furnished, including linens, pots/pans, all dishes, 
silverware, glassware, even hair dryers and umbrellas!

Okeechobee is consider one of the best areas for Bass fishing and 
there are several fishing guides in the area.  My husband caught a 
6.8 pound bass just last April!  There is a dock behind the house and 
pontoon boat rental just down the road.  You could rent the boat and 
pull it up to the dock, as well as take trips into Lake Okeechobee 
and even up the Kissimmee River, through the locks, to River Ranch.

From this location, with the right vessel, you can travel through the 
St. Lucie Canal to the Atlantic Ocean or to Ft. Myers on the Gulf 
Coast (though it would take some time depending on the speed of your 
boat).  It is, however, a very interesting trip.

Okeechobee is quite rural area, laid back, casual.  There are a lot 
of cattle ranches in the area.  Restaurants are limited to chains and 
a few local steak places.  There are several golf courses.  There is 
a movie theatre in town.

The pool at the community is not yet approved for construction.

Okeechobee is located about 40 miles south of Kissimmee (Orlando 
area) and is about 1 - 1 1/2 hours drive from the Orlando attractions 
(Disney, Universal, etc.).

Okeechobee is about one hour drive from West Palm Beach International 
Airport (PBI) and is the best airport for arrivals.

Okeechobee is also convenient to Ft. Pierce, Vero Beach, Stuart/Palm 
City, Jupiter/Palm Beach Gardens areas (about 40 minutes to any of 
these areas).

Okeechobee and the surrounding towns (Arcadia, Sebring, Lakeland) are 
also great areas for finding unique antiques.

There is a one month minimum rental at $2,500.  For seasonal rental, 
4 months or more, the monthly rental rate is $2,000.  For an annual 
rental, the monthly rate is $1,800 furnished, $1,500 unfurnished 
(adjacent unit).

There are several units for sale ranging from around $299,000 to 
$375,000, depending on size and whether or not the unit is located on 
the waterfront.
