 There are beaches within 3 to 30 minutes of Hilo,
and the ocean cliffs are a few minutes away. Trails for jogging and 
biking, ATV'ing are nearby also. 

 Just a 25 minute drive from the condo is where the 1990 lava flow 
took over the village of Kalapana and to this day is forming a brand 
new black sand beach that you can hike to.  Once you have done that, 
then definitely stay and have lunch at Verna’s local drive in where 
the grinds are ono good!  

In the opposite direction about 15 minutes away, is the wonderful 
Kapoho area where swimming and snorkeling are incredible.  On the way 
to the Kapoho tide pools you might also choose to stop and enjoy the 
Ahalanui Warm Spring Park, where 90 degree geothermally heated waters 
at the oceans edge are available for year-round relaxation.  

In addition, for those interested in surfing, nearby Mackenzie State 
Park and Isaac Hale Beach Park are great spots to watch the locals 
surf. 
 
Located 1/2 hour from Volcano National Park, Hot pond, Champagne 
Pond, Tide Pools and near a good place to watch whales in the 
winter in Hilo, Hawaii, Big Island.  The property is also 47 miles 
from the visitors center on Mauna Kea.

indeginous only to the Hawaiian Islands you can find at the Captain 
Cook Monument. 

Check your golf swing at one of the many golf courses or reel in the 
big one on a deep sea fishing charter. 

You could ride a horse and rope cattle at The Parker Ranch, one of 
the largest Cattle ranches in the U.S. 

 We are just fifteen minutes from the quaint plantation town of 
Pahoa, where the sidewalks are wooden and just a ten minute drive you 
can be soaking in a hot pond or taking a dip with the rare green sea 
turtles at the Kapoho tide pools. 

Visit and tour the Macadamia nut farm or take in the only tropical 
rain forest zoo in the U.S. free. 

Waterfalls, lava tubes, scenic drives, two Botanical Gardens and the 
Orchard Farm are just a short drive up the road. E
