Description
|
|
Three-season cottage--April thorugh November--on a small lake in one
of the most scenic areas of Vermont. Downstairs has full kitchen and
large living room with TV, DVD (no cable), and daybed. It opens out to
a deck with charcoal grill.
Second floor has two bedrooms. One has a full-size bed and, through
the window, a lovely view of the lake. The other is more dormitory
style, with three full-size beds. Bathroom with shower is downstairs,
half bath (just toilet and sink) upstairs.
Laundry facilities--washer and dryer--are located in a separate
out-building in back of the cottage.
Lake frontage is across a very quiet country road from the cottage,
and frontage is shared with our other cottage, next door. Frontage
includes dock, porch-type swing, fire pit, picnic table, and your
choice of rowboat, canoe, and small (one-or-two-person) sailboat.

Amenities |
|
This cottage is comfortable even in cool weather, as it has efficient
gas heat. We provide all linens, dishes, cookware, etc., and even
stock the refrigerator with food suitable for breakfasts.
The water is shallow some distance from shore, so it is a very safe
place for children to swim. The three boats are shared with guests in
the next-door cottage, so you may need to take turns if residents of
both prefer, say, the sailboat over the canoe or rowboat. To date,
there has never been a problem with this setup.
Pets are allowed as long as you take full responsibility for them. If
a dog barks constantly, or scares neighbors, or destroys property,
that would be a problem. But 90 percent of our guests bring pets, and
so far we have never experienced a problem with them.

Attractions |
|
Fishing is quite good, including smallmouth bass and occasional
northern pike as well as the usual perch and panfish. There is a small
public swimming area next to ours, attracting area families on hot
summer days, but area tends to be quiet most of the time.
Other nearby attractions include a winery, a corn maze, and a riding
stable. The Jeffersonville/Smugglers Notch area is somewhat of a
year-around resort area, and this is a great area to enjoy the best
Vermont scenery, during fall foliage season or any other time of year.
Burlington, center of many cultural attractions, is just 30 miles
away, and Montreal is close enough for convenient day trips. The
cottage is a great home base for enjoying attractions throughout Vermont.
