 Description

Attached are pictures -- some from the air -- which show my place on an island NOT Connected by bridge so you must have your own boat! Another picture shows the cottage and the larger, longer (70') crib dock, which is on the left, can't be seen. No problem with any boats coming is as we have no underwater obstacles. This charming island cottage has 3 BRs (back one has two double bunk beds and sleeps 4, the middle one has a double bed, and the MasterBR has double bed. There is 1 Bath with toilet, sink and clawfoot bathtub with shower. There is also an outdoor under-the-stars tub for two heated by its own On-demand water heater. There is a large living/DR with field stone working fireplace plus an irish Waterford wood stove which heats the place very well, when needed. The kitchen has a new electric range with 2 ovens, refrig, and dishwasher. On the back porch is a 2nd refrig for beverages, a freezer, a washing machine and a 220volt dryer. There is a phone for local calls, cable TV (my internet is cable wifi,) so you would want your own cell phone or a calling card for long distance calls. I have two canoes, a small 14' boat fiberglass boat, a paddle boat and and a Sail-Fish small sail boat. Do you have boating experience? You will have to dock your boat at the public dock on Meredith Neck at Browns Boat Basin, or the one on the Neck at Cattle Landing, both of which have public parking for cars and boats (3 hr limit for boats but a call to Meredith police will provide an extension). The island lot is 140' with the docks at each end. I have a gas grill and smoker which is great for smoking salmon and trout. I have great neighbors as well. We use the lake water but have a UV purifier, though many people do drink the lake water without purifying it out where we are, as it is very clean there. Great swimming and smallmouth bass, salmon, and trout fishing in my "front yard." We have a TV/DVD/VHS cassette player. The home was built in 1931. I am not planning on listing it with realtor to rent to unknown tenants. We mostly live outdoors in warm weather and have picnic tables and Adrondack chairs. as well as several hammocks. The lot is level and has a rocky shore with only a very small beach by the dock, depending on the lake level. I'm on the East side of Bear Island looking out at 6-Miile island, a bit to my left front, Ozone straight ahead, and Dollar island to my right front. There is a large green field with no buildings next door with horseshoe court and room for play. (Shows from the aireal view). It is about a half mile hike on beautiful trails to the stone interdenominational church (no electricity in the church but a pump organ and candle-light), St. Johns on the Lake, which has services July and August. There are no roads or vehicles on the Island and it is an incredibly peaceful place to vacation, play, fish, swim, relax. The island is about 5 miles long, and a mile wide. It is the largest Island on Lake Winni not connected by bridge. I used to keep my boat at Fays which is a 15 min. 4.5 mile ride, but Browns Boat Basin and the public dock there is closer. You can go to a small general store at nearby "Y Landing" for essentials, newspapers, gas, etc. I love it there -- a bit of heaven here on earth to me!
