Tranquil Retreat...This Charming one bedroom creekside cottage 
overlooks Elk Creek just outside the small rural town of Doty which 
still boasts that it has one of the few remaining "real country 
stores" in the state.  The upper Chehalis River valley offers 
striking views of Mt. Rainier and the surrounding Willapa Hills 
which 
are densely forested and homes to a wide variety of birds and 
wildlife.  Elk Creek is one of the few remaining pristine fishing 
streams that meanders down the lush volcanic valleys in Lewis County.

Country Comfort...Antiques and a small woodstove supply the interior 
of the cottage with a sense of warmth and country comfort.  The 
cottage has a bedroom with a very comfortable queen bed, bath with 
shower, fully equipped kitchen, dining room and living room with 
sleeper sofa.

From rolling hills and valleys in the west to mountainious regions 
in 
the east, Volcano County, suggests a feeling of time past.  Lewis 
County, named after the explorer, Meriweather Lewis, where the 
cottage in located in Doty is the largest and oldest county in the 
state. The area suggests a feeling of times past with the historic 
cities of Centralia and Chehalis and other towns that evoke 
that "small town charm."  The Cottage is located in the southwest 
corner of Lewis County in the Willipa Hills which are part of the 
coastal range.

The cottage sits right on Elk Creek.  You can enjoy views of the 
creek and surrounding woodlands while relaxining on the deck or from 
most every room in the cottage.  The cottage accommodates four 
people 
comfortably.  It is hard to imagine a more inviting way to be 
soothed 
to sleep then by the rhythm of the creek with its rapids above the 
cottage and waterfall below.

The cottage is located 18 miles west of Chehalis near Rainbow Falls 
State Park on Scenic Byway #6.  The Park has trails through old 
growth forest, great swimming holes, picnic shelters, baseball 
diamonds and swings for the "kid in you."  Also along Byway #6 you 
can visit the Chehalis-Centralia Railroad's Steam Train for 
nostalgic 
ride along the Chehalis.

The Cottage can sleep four (4).  The one bedroom has a very 
comfortable queen sized bed and built in closets w/chest of drawers 
and the living room also has a comfortable regular sized sleeper 
sofa. All bed linens and blankets are provided.

The cottage comes completely furnished with a comfortable living 
room 
that overlooks the creek and is warmed by a small woodstove.  The 
dining area has a table that seats four (4) and an antique china 
cabinet.  Cable television and DVD is provided and a small stereo 
with CD player.

Their is a fully equipped kitchen that includes service for four, 
mircrowave, stove w/oven, refrigerator and small dining table and 
two 
chairs overlooking the creek.  All of the untensils and pots and 
pans 
you need to make any meal or bake cookies is furnished along with a 
picnic basket.  A BBQ is furnished all you need to do is bring 
briquettes.

The cottage has a comfortable deck overlooking Elk Creek where you 
can relax and enjoy the soothing sounds of the creek as it flows by 
and drops over the waterfall.  The small grass side yard allows you 
to use the picnic table or just stretch out in one of the large 
lounge chairs and soak up the views of the surrounding woodlands and 
sounds of the creek.

Take a leisurely bike ride along miles of country roads and visit 
the 
neighboring town of Dryad the site of an 1890's ghost town just a 
half mile away.

Fish for Rainbow and Cutthroat Trout from the deck of the cottage or 
visit the fish ladder at the falls just a few steps away to observe 
salmon as they migrate upstream in the spring and fall to spawn.  
Native birds, deer and other wildlife abound.

Take an easy day trip and visit Mt. St. Helens or Rainier National 
Park or the ocean beaches or just picnic in the yard at the cottage. 
Olympia, the state capital, is less then a hour away.

The cottage is only 2 miles away from Rainbow Falls State Park on 
Scenic Byway #6.  The Park has trails through old growth forest, 
great swimming holes, picnic shleters, baseball diamonds and swings 
for the "kid in you."  

Visit the charming downtown's of the Twin Cities (Chehalis-
Centralia) 
and browse the abundant antique malls in Centralia.  Drive the Old 
Pacific Hwy 99 (now the Jackson Hwy) and dine at Mary McCrank's 
landmark dinner house for real home cooking served family style.  
Spend a lively afternoon or evening at McMenamins Olympia Club in 
Centralia enjoying live entertainment, great food and some of the 
Washington's best micro-brewery beers.

Year round rental.  This is a self-catering cottage.  Rentals are by 
the night with a two (2) night minimum, week or longer.  There is a 
10% discount offered for stays of six nights or longer.
