The Natural Wonders of Harbor Island (and Surrounding Areas) 
Do your soul some good and go to the beach. There's no place better 
for this than Harbor Island, S.C., where your soul is enriched not 
only by the sights and sounds of the ocean but by the wonders of 
wetlands, marsh, and rivers. All of these ecological marvels, and 
their varied inhabitants of the scaled, feathered, and sharp jawed 
variety, are within sight, or within walking or paddling distance, 
of your beach front villa. 

At Harbor Island, S.C. the awe-inspiring joys of nature abound. 
There are 2.5 miles of un-crowded, un-spoiled beach awaiting you as 
you step out of your ocean front unit directly onto the boardwalk 
and to the beach. Dolphins swim so close to the shore, you can 
almost make eye contact with them. If you’re lucky, you can spot 
loggerhead turtles during their nesting season (May-August). The 
wetland next to the beach club (a few minute walk from the villa), 
is full of egrets, herons, and other fowl, who are careful to stay 
out of reach of the resident gators (don’t worry, the area is 
fenced). The pool at the beach and tennis club abuts the marsh, so 
you can have a view of nature while you sunbathe or keep one eye on 
your kids in the pool or adjacent playground. 

The Amenities of Your Home Away From Home
The one bedroom, one and one half bath (sleeps 4) beach front 
villa is tastefully furnished with art collected from around the 
world. The comfort and amenities of home await you: queen bed, queen 
sofa bed, futon chair, pack and play, cable TV, VCR, DVD and CD 
player, washer/dryer, dishwasher, coffeemaker, blender, and little 
things like aluminum foil, paper towels, and napkins. A small beach 
tent is there for your use for sun protection. Sand toys and kid-
sized beach chairs are there for your kids.

Activities on and around the island include: 
Sea kayaking around the ACE BASIN or to Hunting Island, a stone’s 
throw away from Harbor Island

Golf at nearby Fripp or Hilton Head Islands

Swimming in the calm ocean or in one of the pools (2 are adjacent to 
the villa complex; the Harbor Island Beach and Tennis Club (HBTC) 
also has a adult and baby pool, a few minutes walk from the villa

Exercise at the Fitness Center (at the HBTC), where there are weight 
machines, treadmill, bicycles, and other equipment

Fishing all over the place

Tennis at the Harbor Island Beach and Tennis (HIBT) Club

Playing on the playground at the HIBT Club or the very neat 
playground in Beaufort, Play by the Bay, just behind Bay Street

Shopping at Beaufort’s art galleries and eclectic shops

Fine and casual dining in Beaufort, or buying seafood fresh from the 
docks to cook yourself

Numerous other activities for a variety of interests

Spring: April 01 through May 6 $120 per night, $695 per week  
Summer: May 7 through September 6 $895 per week 
Fall: September 7 through October 31 $120 per night, $695 per 
week  
Winter: November 1 through March 31 $105 per night, $595 per week, 
$950 per month  

Quoted weekly rental rates include a $60 cleaning fee. Rentals 
shorter than one week will incur a $60 cleaning fee in addition to 
the posted rate.
