Attractions |
|
Anegada is a big island (half the size of Manhattan) with 200
residents. Most visitors come by sailboat while cruising in the
British Virgin Islands. A few others stay in cottages or other
accommodations on the island. There are about eight restaurants on
the island, a few small groceries, and some bakeries. Anegada has the
charm of the Caribbean as it was 30 years ago.
Anegada is surrounded by coral reef which makes it a snorkeling
paradise. Many visitors also come to experience the thrill of
bonefishing which is particularly popular here.
Of course, with miles and miles of white sand beaches, the main
activities involve the sea: swimming, snorkeling, sailing, fishing,
shell-collecting, and so on. There is a calm pace to the island
which is, perhaps, its biggest attraction. It's hard to find this
peace and quiet anywhere in the Western world.
While here folks should see the flamigoes that nest here. Also there
are endangered iguanas to see being bred in captivity for release into
the wild. And wild orchids! Don't miss the amazing night sky.
